Hi:

My husband gets cold sores (herpes) on his mouth frequently. He's a musician. When he does, we do avoid contact because I have never had a cold sore and why start now? It is a virus and can be transmitted. So, Be Kind, Rewind, from any mouth to mouth activity! Give it time to heal. You are 12, so what is the rush to any type of facial contact.Tell aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends et. al. that you have a cold. You don't have to add, cold sore. No one would want close contact with anyone with a cold!!!

However, my young friend, a herpes virus that shows up on the mouth, without other complications or indications, will not kill you.

But, IT IS ALSO SYSTEMIC. What does that mean? Well, I am not a scientist, but certain 'germs' get into our system; remain in our system; and erupt in our system when we are run down or ill. I think virus' do that. They hang out, but stay on the down low, until you get too tired, emotional, etc.to fight them, and then they pounce.

I am NOT medical doctor but I think I can say with great certainty that herpes is NOT HIV. HIV is a sexually transmitted disease. The V stands for Virus. Herpes Virus is NOT the same virus as HIV, a different virus. For example, if you get a stomach virus it is not the same thing as a virus in your eye or in your throat.

Ask your doctor whether or not your mom is passing this on to you or if you have a specific weakness for this virus. Also, ask your science teacher or doctor to explain the difference between a virus that shows up on the mouth, like a cold sore, and one that lives in the body, and shows up as HIV.
But, relax. smile. eat your veggies; and do not confuse HIV with a cold sore.

Don't worry sweetie. There are at least two different kinds of herpes - the kind you have is the kind that just about everyone gets anyway. It makes cold sores on your lips.

Genital herpes is the one you don't want. But you usually only get that from sex, and a lot of people have it too. Including my mom.

It won't kill you and has nothing to do with HIV.

herpes is a virus related to chicken pox, that almost 75% of people worldwide have...there are two types, herpes simplex 1 - which causes cold sores, and herpes simplex 2, which causes lesions (more sores) in the genital area (down south on your body)...it lives in the spinal cord and can come out (as a cold sore)at times of stress, such as menstruation, when you're sick, and when you are tired...they spread by contact to mucous membranes: if your lips have a cold sore, don't kiss anyone until it has crusted over...but, it is fairly harmless, and you can relieve a lot of the tingling and pain by using an over the counter product like Blistex for cold sores...good luck, and don't worry!

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about five yrs ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I understand loads of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date other men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/PbPPR everything changed.

Not only was I able to eradicate all remnants of the hsv from my system in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This method gave me back the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

Cold sores don't kill you. I've gotten them since I was young, am now in my 40's. No, it's not HIV. It is a herpes simplex. I wouldn't kiss anyone until it's gone. You will be fine.

It's ok hun it's just a Cold Sore and no you won't die from it.
Dab vinegar on it to dry it up or get a product called Zovirax.
Don't kiss anyone on the lips as you can give it to them and other than that you will be fine but will be proned to getting them in the future.
Also Google Cold Sores and you will find a ton of information.

you have a cold sore and it will heal in about a week
you cannot catch herpes from your mom unless you have used the same washcloth as her and i hope you use your own
as long as your cold sore is past the stage of breaking open you wont give it to anyone else if this still concerns you speak to the school health nurse

Herpes can't kill you my sister has it too she supposedly got it from a toilet seat but anyways if its on your lip most everyone in the world gets it there but it goes away after a few weeks if its on your leg or close to your private I would go to the doctor ASAP
It might be something serious but I doubt it =)
And no its not HIV! =)
