I have always read you should not interfere after introducing?

Question

a new dog to the household, and they are fighting over who will be alpha, however, i just read someones answer, that said you should. What do you think? And by fighting I dont mean knock down drag out fight! I specifically mean showing dominence by taking toys, growling, demanding to be first and to get the best.

i believe the human is the alpha, but there is still a pecking order that trickles down amongst the dogs.

You have to let them sort the pecking order out amongst themselves. If you interfere they will be aggravating each other forever more. Obviously it is a different matter if they are attacking each other, but in your case I would agree that you should leave them to it.

As a responsible pet guardian, it's up to you to be sure that none of the dogs that you care for are being bullied. A look at Turid Rugaas' site to familiarize yourself with canine calming signals will help.
I would also say that you don't need to be concerned with being "Alpha" at all. Science has shown us that the alpha theory does not apply to human/dog relationships. Amongst themselves, dogs will defer to other dogs in their own way. Just look out for bullying and fighting, and don't ever give your dogs an excuse to fight. By this I mean that you should separate them when feeding, and don't ever give them valuable chewies and treats when you believe that they will fight over them. That kind of behavior is not OK and you DON'T want them to ever do that.

I'm hoping what they ment was that you are susposted to the the master and them the followers.
I have 3 dogs in my home now all males and there are no fights, no growling and no stealing of toys here. I won't allow it. I am their Alpha and thats the way it's supposed to be.

you as a human is the alpha. you must let them know you are the boss they are not . the dogs will adjust what order they need to be in but what you say goes
