Well ma'am, you'll be happy to know that every branch of the service has an MOS (military occupational specialty) that is similar to the civillian nurse except the Marines who use the Navy's corpsmen, though they end up wearing the Marine uniform with "U.S. Navy" on it. The main differene is that you are allowed to do more as a military nurse. What you must decide is what type of living conditions you want to live in. The Air Force is affectionately known a the "Country Club of the military" and has the highest standard of living. It's followed by the Navy. The Army and Marines are going to have you living in dirt and mud.
Many people join certain branches because it's in their family history, I joined the Army because my father served.
The Army and Marines are our Go To guys. Where the Army is the largest, it does the majority of the fighting. The Marines are smaller but arguabley better trained, more disciplined and used for more dangerous missions. The Navy and Air Force seem more laid back to me but still perform very important jobs.
Some intersting facts that many people don't know is that the Army actually has more boats than the Navy. And, the Navy has more planes than the Airforce. Who'd have thunk it eh?
Good luck choosing which one is right for you.

If you want to work as a nurse I would probably look at the Air Force and Navy, the Marines do not have any kind of medics. If you don't mind longer deployments you could look at the Army as well.
No offense to anyone in the Air Force, but the Air Force is typically the "easiest" but that does not mean it is a walk in the park. This is the reason the Air Force has had no trouble recruiting.
Attitudes(generally):
Marine Corps-Want to be the best, but a lot of times they get in and realize they don't have what it takes to be elite.
Army-A lot of people join the Army just because that's what they think of when they think of the military. A lot of people join for college money or big bonuses, which has hurt them somewhat.
Air Force-Typically people join because they want an easy ride. But there are still a lot of challenging jobs in the Air Force who are just as good as anyone, such as their Special Tactics.
Navy-People are generally looking for job experience and travel.
Keep in mind these are just generalizations and do not apply to everyone.
NOTE: Someone above said every branch has something similar to a nurse, which is incorrect. The Marines do not have anything like a nurse.

i would join whichever sounds the best to you. i joined the navy because it sounded better. where i'm from most people join the army. the navy and the air force are more technical and will teach you a trade you can use after the military. as for nursing, the navy and the air force again are the best options. the usmc uses the navy medical personnle and the army is basically field medicine but they have their hospitals too. usually in military hospitals there are all branches there with the exception of the usmc because they use ours (navy).

Go Navy, you will like how they treat the navy medical, even in school you get way better accommodations than the rest! Go army and you will be lucky to go into the field you want, they will promise you something, but as soon as your in, the fine print says they can put you where ever they need you........Talk to your recruiters. All branches are not the same, the bootcamp for army and marines is 10 times worse than the NAVY OR AIRFORCE.....
In the Navy, we dont have boats,we have ships, and we have more ships then any other branch of the military.....;-)

I guess it all depends on what you are determined to do. There are many positions in the medical field in each branch, I know especially the Army. I know many women and men also that work in the medical field for the army, they make good money and sometimes have sign on bonuses. People are pesuaded to join a branch because usually a recruiter talks to them into it or someone in their family is in it and persuades them. If you are looking for information on becoming a nurse especially in the military/ Army. Check out the link below. I hope this helps and good luck!

In the medical field, all would probably be the same. If you're single, the Navy would be OK if you don't have moton sickness. Air Force would be good also. US Army and Marines would provide experience in trauma, explosion, gunshot and burn procedure in combat situations. Talk to all the recruiters and pick the service that will give you what you want.

if you want to be a nurse in the army, you can be, but you will also be cross-trained with a line unit or a convoy unit. Personally, i think thats better, only because you learn a lot faster when in a combat sitution, trust me. Marines dont have nurses, thier a branch off the navy. now if your looking for a cushy job you mmight want to try the navy or airforce. but you will be deployed. hope i helped

im in the US Navy and i am a corpsman (medic). we have an excellent medical program. in the navy most bases that you will be stationed at are near the coast so thats a plus if you are a beach loving person. if u want to stick more inland go army or air force. you will go on year long deployments to iraq in the army.

Well I've been wondering the same question and i think that i would rather choose the army or the Marines. The airforce is one I woudn't like but i would choose navy for the Navy Seals. So basicly it depends on what kind of area you like to fight in.
