Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! Spiritual maturity is the work of a life time and although I keep stumbling my God is there to pick me up, dust me off and let me move forward again. I am a work in progress. Do you know anyone that totally lives up to what they should be? Even Paul in the Bible says in so many words, "That that I would, I do not...That that I would not...that I do". Couldn't have said it better huh. Mmm

There is nothing to defend....we ARE guilty of hypocrisy....and every other sin. The only difference between a non-Christian and a Christian is that the Christian KNOWS and ADMITS that he has sinned in every possible way, is in need of a Savior, is helpless and hopeless without one, asks for forgiveness, and thus is FORGIVEN. The Christian will NEVER be perfect, anymore than the non-Christian will ever be. But Jesus came to give his life for sinners...and THAT is what is important.

I am a christian and I make mistakes . I have to ask God for forgivness. But I have seen some who say they are that will sit on the front bench at church and be awful during the week. That is not my idea of acting like a christian either. Although I try to be kind, tolerant, help others, etc., I still have my share of mistakes.

Haha, I agree with ya man, .. they should also be charged with quiet alot of other things like wiping trying to wipe out entire cultures just because there "god" has some inferiority complex.
And whats with this " you shall not kill" thing.
"When Moses went up onto Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments (Exodus 19:20), he left the Israelites for forty days and forty nights (Exodus 24:18). The Israelites feared that he would not return, and asked Aaron to make gods for them (Exodus 32:1)."
"God decides to kill the people, even though He just wrote "You shall not kill" with his own finger. Moses begged him to rethink this position. (Exodus 32:11); the Lord relented. Moses went down from the mountain, but upon seeing the calf, he too became angry. He threw down the tablets upon which God's law had been written, and broke them. Moses then burnt the golden calf in the fire, ground it to powder, scattered it on water, and forced the Israelites to drink it. After a bit of an interview with Aaron, Moses had "every man slay his neighbor and in that day about 3000 perished." He then picked up the Ten Commandments I suppose and told them "You shall not kill." Go figure."
"Great stuff! Moses is standing there with the words "You shall not kill," in his arms and what happens? He goes ballistic, puts the tablets down and no doubt thinks, "we'll discuss this later," and orders the slaughter of 3000 or so people who were afraid after over a month, the man had gotten lost, died or went back to Egypt and forgot to mention it. To make it more personal, "every man was to slay his neighbor." Sure, easy enough. "

I work hard to not be a Hypocrite. It is not only Christians who fall short at times, but people all over the world. I dread to tell about what the punishment in Dante's world is. He says the hypocrite would be adorned with beautifully colored cloaks that reached from neck to ankle-but were lined with lead. " They are eternally weighted down, by the falseness of their appearance. " so I do not ever want to wear a cloak, lined with lead.

Yes I am totally guilty of hypocrisy. I am much better then I used to be. No I will not stand accused of anything as long as I keep myself following the spirit and not the flesh.
Grace and peace to you too.

Of course I am guilty I am human and have committed many sins, and will likely commit more. And am I occasionally hypocritical of course. Being a Christian does not make me perfect, it just makes me saved.
As CS Lewis said "Christianity has not been tried and failed, Christianity has never been tried."
The wonderful thing is I am forgiven. Are you?

I assert that claim that all humans are guilty of hypocrisy.
All humans have standards of behavior.
No human consistently adheres to these standards, and yet they claim the standards as their own.

I suppose we could make a counter accusation against you. . .something along the lines of felonious stupidity or malicious arrogance. Or how about aggravating self-righteousness?
So how do you plead, and what is *your* defense?
