OMGoodness, I am 100% with Texas here!
I love teenagers.
Yes, some of them dress weird, but like we didn't? Come on!
Can you say "80's" sheesh!
And yes, some of the roll their eyes at me when I try to "share" with them. Like you never rolled your eyes at adults when you were a teen? Not buying it.

Teens are basically the same. Actually, I think they're a bit more wise than my generation was.

I love them! They actually respond when I comment them on myspace (friends of my daughter and my nieces and nephews only, I'm not a weirdo), and they don't ignore me (much) at church. I've caught them smiling at jokes and even conceding that the original version of the song "their band" is covering has some merit. They're funny and creative. And talented. Lots of talent in their generation.
They understand things about the world around them that some adults will never figure out.
Most of them are completely turning their back on the fake commercialized world their parents expect them to inherit in search of something real to hold on to.

It saddens me that so many people are on here bashing teens like they were/are sooooo perfect.

You know what disturbs me about teenagers the most?
The fact they have to put up with people judging and bashing them for being young.

That stinks.

How they don't question anything! They waste their potential.

They just accept what adults and authority figures tell them. Our society keeps people so busy worrying about the latest fashions, the greatest gadgets and the silliest stuff for your myspace page, that teens have no interest in making serious changes in the way the world works.

The mere fact that marketers look at teens as the most important demographic demonstrates the power that american teenagers have. All they have to do is ask why. Ask why our troops are in Iraq. Ask why we're still worshipping ancient gods. Ask why we're still stuck with outmoded silly victorian moralities. More importantly, ask why there's a parasitic corporation profiting off of every single action we perform. Ask why 30 million americans have no health insurance.

Ask why and then make changes. Take charge! Scare adults! Make the world a better place. Make it how you want it to be, not how old people want it to stay. Tear down the old gods and make new ones in your own image.

The world is a game and teens are the ones who should be playing.

Nothing. Teenagers are just people without as much experience, and every single person went through the same phase. The difference is that you've already outgrown it, but were too self-centered at the time to realize how immature you were....it's laughable! The ironic thing is that every adult generation has complained about every youth generation, back to ancient Rome! Greek scholars complained about how teens were the worst behaved will only come to naught. Every generation thinks that they were the most respectful, mature, knowledgeable group.

Teens are people too! I really love how most teens are so self-confident, too bad school ruins it by forcing conformity within the ranks, stuffing so many people together that peer pressure ruins it for everyone.

Nothing. I have teenagers in my house a lot because I have teenaged kids, and I love them. They're clever, creative, smart. They give me a lot of joy. They make me laugh. They tolerate my poor attempts at humor. They say things that make me think. They're nice to my pets. They're curious. They're basically wonderful humans that I'm proud to know.

It astonishes me that people here are criticizing them for being immature! I'd say they are not as immature as the adults who are bad-mouthing them in response to this question!

Besides- how mature is anyone when one is a teenager? They're more mature than they were when they were younger, and less mature than they will be when they are older- just like their parents and teachers.

Start looking for what is good about them. If you're not in the habit of doing that it will take practice, but once you get rehearsed, you'll see that most teenagers are just wonderful people and the ones that aren't probably haven't been given a chance to show their wonderfulness.

I'm kind of disturbed more by the question than by teenagers. ;) I know plenty of teenagers whom I do not find disturbing in the least. They tend to be homeschooled teens.

When I'm out and about and there are high schooled teens, the ones who disturb me (not all disturb me) are those who are so desperate to find their sense of identity they've gone to extremes, they're smoking, they're using foul language around little kids, they're talking about who got wasted or laid, or you see them passing little packages (undoubtedly some form of dope) to somebody else. Or the ones who are simply acting obnoxious, loud and disruptive with little regard for the fact that they are in a public place and people around them may be bothered.

The trend in teen girls' clothing here is absolutely atrocious. Unfortunately, it's spreading down into upper elementary. :( I'm also disturbed by the latest trend in becoming sexually active younger and younger and to be proud of being a pregnant teen.

Just like every generation, things like crime and drugs seem trival. Sports and popularity are things that teens kill and die for, literally. It's not until you are older and it's too late before you have a drug addiction or a Felony on your record that realize how backwards teenage thinking is, and that popularity and sports stopped mattering the moment you graduated.

The way they dress. The fact that they show no respect including for themselves. That they want to grow up too fast. That they give absolutely no consideration to their parents.....not thinking that their way of having fun could cost their parents plenty.

What I dont like about us teenagers is immaturity. I am mature,
But the teens arround school are NOT, like they talk about drugs and stuff, and they think because they are older and can handle what adults can, but they cant, and their parents cant help them when they screw up if they dont want to, and usually they dont, because they thought they were old enough to handle it before, so they should be able to handle it now.
