What does the Bible say? At Matt. 28:19, it says: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father AND the Son AND the holy spirit."

Hi.
It's a debate that exists in the different christian denominations. Some people believe that effectively we should baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19); Other people say that the formula must be in the name of Jesus only (Acts 2:38); and a third part of believers think that the only thing neccesary to be baptized is to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
To solve this aparent contradiction, some groups, such as the modalist Oneness Pentecostal cult declare is no Trinity, and God take on the role of the Father in the Old Testament, after, the Father incarnates in Jesus (God as the Son), and actually he is doing the role of the Holy Spirit. Other groups, the subordinationists, like the Jehovah's Witnesses, believe the Son is a divine being, but subordinate to the Father, and they deny the personality of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, they baptize in Jesus' Name.
My thought about this is that the expression "In the Name of Jesus", of Acts 2:38, does not indicate a ritual formula, but the authority in which we baptize:
"They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: "BY WHAT POWER OR WHAT NAME did you do this?" Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: IT IS BY THE NAME of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed"
(Acts 4:7-10, NIV)
The Wycliffe New Testament translates: "In what virtue (...) have ye done this thing?..."
So, The correct formula should be: "By the Authority of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit".
Farewell.
P.S: I apologize if my english is not the best, but it isn't my maternal language (Spanish), and I dont have american friends to practice.

You should baptize in the Name of the Father the name of the Son and in the name of the Holy Spirit. What is the name of the Father? The Son? The Holy Spirit? It pleased God that all the fullness of God dwell in Jesus completely. The name of the Father and the Name of the Son and the name of the Holy Ghost is summed up in one name. The name of Jesus. So when your told to go baptize in the name of the Father the name of the Son and the Name of the Holy Spirit your being told to do it in the Name of Jesus. That's what the disciples did. They did it in the name of Jesus because they understood. Jesus was the all in all and in His name which is above every name is the name they were to baptize in.

Well, Jesus Christ is the Son and He is part of the trinity. So you would be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

If you are baptized in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit, Jesus is included because he is the son. Normally, you would get baptized in the name of the trinity.
