I feel kind of dumb asking this question, but if you could let me know the word for a baby tree, the way that a baby dog is a puppy, I'd appreciate it.

Seedling is the very inital stage of a plant.... when the pods are still attached to it and its in the developing stage of leaves.

Sapling i would say is the most appropriate word for describing a baby plant. Where its not over grown and no longer has its pods attached. Espceially at this stage..... you can replant them or move them elsewhere.

BONSAI... is a matured tree dwarfed. So that is not same like calling a baby dog....... puppy. Thats more like midget.
And Bonsai is also an art form.

Seedling is the answer. Sapling is more mature like a 2-3 year old child. I plant seedlings when doing re-forestation.
