Taking things away from kids (I consider it stealing! Just because someone is under 18 does NOT make it right to take things from them!) is all part of the power trip. Teachers have quite large egos and taking your things helps to make them bigger. Personally, I don't see what's wrong with a student leaving the room for a couple minutes to answer the phone then returning. Adults do it at work much more often and their bosses don't "take away" their phones.

I think that when teachers do that they should be charged with stealing. As for stageman, stealing is stealing, whether you donate the stolen items to a good cause or not.

In my opinion, your teacher did you a favor. I think your wisest course of action isn't to flick her, but rather you should pay attention in class and learn the lesson well. Thank her sincerely for removing the distraction. Incidentally, the average mathematics major scores about the 60th percentile on the Verbal part of the GRE. Also, incidentally, do you know how much money an actuary gets paid each year?

I have an I take it, I keep it policy in my class. I donate it to womens shelters where they use them if their abusive partner comes after them. You're lucky I don't teach you! It is extremely rude to disrupt someone's class because you can't wait to hear the latest gossip. And don't give me I was waiting for an important call, blah, blah, blah. If it's so important your mother/father/guardian can call the office like has been done for years.
P.S. Since I instituted the I take it, I keep it policy, only two phones have been donated. Kids catch on quick!!

No, because I would never use a cell phone during math class, or any class for that matter. Using a cell phone during class is, well, classless.

Maybe, but it's not nearly as bad as when people use cell phones while you're trying to teach a class.

no,because you shouldn't have a cell phone on in class anyway... all ur friends are already at school, and if someone needs to get a hod of you that badly, then they will call the school and the administraters will come get you...

Only reason i could think of is if you had no pli ..where is your brain at girl? you don't sms or talk on your phone in class. you don't pull it out for any reason.

If you think you are entitled to do so, your parents should be fired, failing to bring you up right

needless to say, what they say approximately math instructors' lack of ability to apply suited grammar is authentic. teach your dad. it rather is greater useful to show him now instead of bypass in the back of his back and have him study it later. Many instructors will call the mother and dad to substantiate that they signed the be conscious.
