Check with their closest family member. Unless the soldier has given the Army specific written permission to talk to you, you won't get anything from their rear detachment.

Good luck!

I'm wondering why you want to know exactly where your loved one is stationed. It's not like you can really just drop by next time you're in the neighborhood, right? :)

Most of the time, they can't really tell you exactly where they are. It's hard not knowing, but it IS for very real reasons. I'd much rather not know, than unknowingly put someone in jeopardy by knowing.

However, if you're trying to find out where your loved one is stationed so that you can get in touch, try sending an email or getting in contact with someone who is close to them (mother, father, sibling, spouse, etc) and asking for the contact information that way.

Good luck to you and your soldier!

My son's friend spent a year in Iraq. They had e-mail and phone calls. The most specific he could get was "the Baghdad area". We sent him a package for Christmas and his birthday with a few small items in it. The Army PO got it to him in about 2 weeks from shipping.

well ill tel you first hand, its not easy. when i was there, my family tried to find me, but the only way was for me to contact them first. If you know what unit he's in, you can call the rear detachment of the batallion, but if your not a next of kin they wont give you any info. You have to remember, this is the military, and security is very important. also most units have web sites, that usually tell the reigon where the unit is going. but as far as finding a websith with each person's name wont happen.

How close of a relative are you? I find it odd that the person didnt tell you where he/she was stationed at and hasnt contacted you.
Unless they might be special forces and are under orders not to communicate.....

If you are a close relative then you can contact the Pentagon office involved in this matter. Google the Pentagon address.
