Good question!

I wanted to be a nun. I wanted to be a Carmelite nun so bad I could taste it!

Denied. I tried and tried. I hit wall after wall. I sulked. I pouted. I whined rather than prayed.

They say an angry woman's prayer is a curse. I understand why.

Then one day, I was sitting in the sun WHINING to God about not being able to be a nun. Aren't we short on religious? Shouldn't they be throwing open the doors for me??

Then God sort of sighed at me and told me he needed me IN the world. Helping others. He said he'd sent me a perfectly good Capuchin (I was called back to the church by a dead monk) for a reason.

So I set off to become a Secular Franciscan and discovered that my local fraternity is run by - wait for it.... Capuchins!

God does not play dice. God does not leave things to chance. Once I accepted his will for me - and even ran towards it, I became amazingly happy. No more whining!! No more misery. I feel utterly illequipped to deal with the task he has for me, but I know he will give me the knowledge and strength I need to pull it off.

Following Diabetic coma I was floating in and out of consciousness listening 2 the docs informing my sister I was unlikely to last the next 24hrs.. freak out time.... Heard everything being said but couldnt move or talk... Close friends or family dying young is one of the hardest things to get to grips with but ultimately it does make us stronger whether we understand it at the time. The expression everything happens 4 a reason is hard 2 understand when u r a child but is quite obvious as an adult.

God disappointed me when I first realized he wasn't real. I was angry about that for a while.

It is for a good reason as I can now look at the world as it actually is, and not through faith blinded eyes.

While having nothing, and I mean nothing in common with loved ones, not even a dot of a period of a sentence with loved ones, I realize they have equipped me with tools and ways for myself.
