I don;t think it killed the other bird.

the bird that died could have been sick and you were not aware of it.

The bird may have died because it was eggbound (and you were not aware of it.

The bird was injured in some way.

She very well could have been sick. Healthy birds will pick on and kill a sick bird to drive them away from the flock.

If she was a new bird, he may not have gotten along with her. I don't reccomend putting another bird in with him again. Most birds that kill others will continue to do so if given a chance.

He probly rejected her as a mate or the cage to small for the two to be together. my suggestion is not to place anouther bird with.
Or he found her being there annoying, he may prefere to be a loner.
were their chicks or eggs in there?

Your bird is a sadistic sociopath, and the only way to keep another parakeet in with it is to supply it with a steady stream of victems such as other birds or small rodents.

Maybe the female parakeet was looking at other male parakeets. :)
