Implying all have free will is insinuating they do as they wish.

This is not so.

We are told we must choose either heaven or hell to spend eternally, that this is "free will".

So far, I have chosen neither. "Christians" get confused sometimes & try to say not choosing heaven is the same as choosing hell.

Utter hogwash. This is like saying not choosing a pink crayon means you chose green.

I will choose neither. Maybe God will? Who knows.

No matter how you look at it, only what God wants (you choose heaven or hell, no other choices) gets done.

My will gets trampled. In reality, I have no choice, no free will. Else, God would allow me to choose that should I die, I will remain dead as though I never were for all eternity.

Since I do not care for either of Gods "choices", I shall never choose. God will have to choose one for me.

I am not happy. God is violating my free will every way you look at it. I can't choose what I want seeing he will not give it me.

Freewill is a myth?

Thank you, Misty. You just verified what it.

That is the extent of free will. It's not that difficult to comprehend. Just because you want a 3rd choice and are throwing a tantrum about it doesn't mean God will give you one.

I know God won't give me what I want, just like you said. Please explain how God doing what HE wants is really free will for ME, since he is ONLY doing what he wants (not me or MY free will).

I followed your entire logical argument to the end and I must admit I am a bit confused.

This appears to be a rant against christianity, which is fine. It also sounds like you are blaming god for your problems.

Free will doesn't mean choose heaven or hell - it means choose anything. You can live filled with love or hate. You can treat people with respect or derision. You can paint a masterpiece on canvas or graffiti-tag an overpass. Every second of your life you are making choices. These choices are not made for you.

If you are unhappy - then YOU are the reason, not god or christianity. All they're doing is living life the way they were told to. According to the dogma of that particular faith. You generate all the joy or misery in your life.

When you stop blaming others for your woes and take full and utter responsibility for your actions. You will begin to notice how everything around you is affected by your context - how you hold yourself.

He created you...you can choose to love and worship your creator...or not.

Free will is not a myth, it is what many Christians say that is the problem.

Essentially they tell us we have free will, except either we do "what God wants" or we spend eternity in hell.

That, folks is NOT "free will".

The fallacy in their argument is that God "wants" something from us. An all powerful being does not need or want us to do anything.

We do indeed have free will.
And we will do God's work as well.
And THAT is not a contradiction.

Well, you got the "simple" part right in your avatar, but you can throw out the "humble". A truly humble man would listen to what God says about it, and do what God instructs. That is the definition of humility.

Instead, you have exalted yourself above God's Word, and actually seem proud of yourself for doing so. You don't have to try and disprove religion - you're right. Much of it is biased, and full of contradictions and double standards.

However, the Word of God is NOT any of those things! And His Word doesn't agree with one thing you've said, even if many religions or atheists do. I'm not going to waste time trying to convince you, but I'll definitely go with what I KNOW to be true....Him!

Not you....

I am free! I do anything I want anytime I want to as long as I don't impose on anyone else I know that I will go to heaven because I love everything and everyone and I love life, trying to impress others with your peity is foolish on your behalf, because simply others do not care what you do, you only think they do!

What makes you think that your desired option of oblivion will be denied?

Oblivion is addressed in the bible. The prophets told of God's sadness that people chose oblivion over Heaven.

To sleep and be at rest was the desire of the distressed.
Book of Job. Chapter 3 vs 13.

There is, of course, no such thing as total free will. All that any of us do everyday is governed by others. And rightly so. Total free will would not work, at least. Not in modern times.

BTW, having a choice and you can't decide between heaven or hell. Oh, please give us to break here.

maybe you've got god all wrong - i probably dont have the answer that you're looking for but; god and us : are one, are the same; in the most simple and normal of ways, i think that this is why there is conflict about god (and because people are confused about themselves)

If you didn't have freewill you would be a robot now wouldn't you... God gave men freedom of choice, freedom to do what is right or do what is wrong, freedom to believe God or not to believe. But man will always choose wrong, until he comes to Christ. Amen!

Take a closer look at Calvinism. God saves those who stand condemned before him, He doesn't violate any innocence we think we have.
