It doesn't matter, my cat likes to insist on coming in with me.
Why she feels the need for it to come in with her is another matter that maybe should be posted in psychology not pets

Yes it is a little weird, but I do not think it is too damaging to the puppy. If anything I would say it could create some seperation anxiety. When people insist on coddling their pets and treating them like "little humans", it can cause behavioral problems in their animals. Pets, especially puppies, need discipline.
The issue is w/ your girlfriend. She is not helping the development of her "little baby". While this behavior may be annoying, it could be indicitave of a deeper issue. Think if you really want to be w/ someone so insecure and emotionally stunted.
I know you Chris. You have a beautiful poetic soul and only want to see the good in people. Just don't let it overshadow what's good for you.

Do you realize how much trouble that puppy could get into in the short amount of time it takes a person to go to the bathroom. She may be trying to prevent him from getting into things while she can't watch him. If she is doing this while you are home, maybe she doesn't think you will watch him close enough.

Bathroom training is great!
When in the small room, door shut, your pup has only one person to watch, listen to and play with.
My dog learned to GET IT, Give it while in the bathroom.
He also learned the high five there too.
I like closed areas for shaping new tricks.
The Bathroom, the car.. anywhere it's quiet, one to one...
so your GF is on target!
:) Tell her so.

Does it really matter. It just teaches the puppy to follow his leader. Which is a good thing

I have 2 toy dogs(a pom and a shitzu) and both love to come inside the bathroom with me everytime. Once i get inside and they're not in, they scratch the door begging for me to let them in. I guess, its their way of letting me know that they want to always be with me, or at least know that am not going anywhere.hehe.=) They're very loving and loyal dogs. As for your gf, she must probably love her pup so much that she too wants to be with her all the time.

That is kinda strange. Why does she do that. Doesn't she need privacy in the bathroom?
