The conditions at Walter Reed are only one symptom of a completely diseased Military/Political system that has absolute contempt for American servicemen.
The death toll in Iraq for American servicemen is closer to 10,000 than the 3,000 claimed by our government . The disparity between the two figures exists because the military will not count you as a KIA if they can get you out of country before you die .
If you suffer a severe injury and are unable to complete your terms of service , any signing bonus you received must be repaid .
The use of depleted uranium munitions are resulting in Gulf War Syndrome 2 . As always the military denies , denies , denies .
If you are wounded and forced into hospitalization , you must pay for your meals yourself .
Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch were treated as nothing more than human resources to be used as propaganda tools for the militaries public relations . The dignity of Tillman and Lynch was less important than the militaries image .

Nothing will be done to change these sickening facts because its easier to adorn your car with a magnet than to actually support the troops by petitioning congress for change .

It is is idiocy to believe being outraged at the lack of human dignity afforded American servicemen is unpatriotic .
Presented with evidence of the abuse these fine men and women endure , many will attack the messenger and close thier minds once again to the inequity of thier treatment at the hands of authority .
I have only stressed a desire to see our servicemen treated with dignity and I am the pervert ?
Gotta love blind patriots .

Yes, I support our troops. I do so by being a proud veteran who does not hesitate to thank the troops for volunteering to provide protection...even for the unappreciative idiots who post these kinds of questions.

As for flying my flag that was made in southeastern asia, I call it something more along the lines of supporting the global economy. I know that is a hard one for you to comprehend, but it is the reality of an American buying foreign-made goods.

The flag that I have is made in Florida. The flag that was presented to my mother yesterday at my father's funeral was made in North Carolina. I always look for the made in the USA label. All republicans I know are anti-american, because they are more interested in the cost than how it effects their country. As for your accusations that Veterans are not well served, as a veteran I have had no problems getting treated at any VA Medical Center. As for Walter Reid, that is an ARMY problem. Most of it comes from people affraid to take the initiative and get something done. In other words, 'Thats not my job!" Army has a bad habit of this. The following is an experiance that I had in Iraq. A friend of mine was med-evaced. I had to escort him. While on the Army side, when we awoke the next morning, even people with back ijuries were ORDERED to get up and do a morning police call on the exterior of the tent. Did I forget to mention? There were no bunks, just matresses on the floor to sllep on, with no sheets or blankets. When we went to the Airforce side, therre was clean sheets, toiletries, beds, etc. And they made noone do any thing, because they were medical disabled. This is what really ticks me off about the US Army. Every one is just out to cover their butts, when you get above the combat front line level. This is why, I always tell young men, when they ask me about the military, I say go any thing but Army.

Where did you get this information? Are you in the military? I would think this kind of thing would be in the mainstream media.

Are you aware that there are 20,000 Blackwater contracted military in Iraq also? I don't believe they are counted as U.S. military deaths if killed. Since most of the Blackwater group is ex-military, they probably still get VA benefits.

The military has been changed radically by Cheney and Rumsfeld. I don't believe most Americans are aware of how it all works anymore. We need to be educated about it.

Do you know what socialists do? They take every opportunity to make you feel bad about your country. They will go out of their way to take any issue, grab on to some error or mistake the government has made and keep banging you over the head with it. If they cannot find a problem to exploit they will make up some.

You are either a socialist hack or what they refer to as a "Useful Idiot", their words not mine. There are problems with the VA hospitals due primarily to the fact that like everything else the government does they involve huge bureaucracies. The correct way to view this issue is as an excellent example of what socialized medical care will look like if it ever happens.

I support the troops by repeatedly writing my Congressmen/women and urging that the troops come home from the sham war in Iraq as soon as possible.

There are a few half-truths and isolated incidents listed in your rant. I know better than most that the treatment of our military needs work, but what contribution have you made to better those conditions?
