Did you think it was convincing? Do you think it was Jesus' and his family tomb? Did you watch the debate afterwards? What did you think?

Convincing? Dear, that story had more holes in it than the good ship Titanic.

*Explain to me why a poor family from Bethlehem would be buried in a middle class grave in Jerusalem.

*Mary, Jesus and Joseph were the most popular names in Israel at this time. That is why the Jewish archaeologists who first discovered these caskets in 1980 NEVER claimed these belonged to the family of Jesus. The odds are too preposterous.

*There is no DNA baseline available to prove this was the burial box of Jesus.

*Miriamne is NOT Mary Magdalene (but actually was the name of Herod's favorite wife). Mary Magdalene is not written on the casket.

*If Jesus was buried and didn’t rise from the dead, why did Jesus’ half brother, James, die preaching that Jesus rose from the dead?

**(My personal favorite)**If you were going to pull off the biggest hoax in the history of mankind, wouldn't you pick a better place to hide the body?

Trust the eyewitnesses, dear. Jesus appeared to over 500 people after He was crucified and laid to rest in a tomb for 3 days. He talked to them and allowed them to touch Him. Most of the eyewitnesses were put to death because they would not deny what they saw.

I did watch both the documentary and the debate. I don't feel the documentary proved anything. There's still way too many questions needing answers. I don't feel the 'film-maker/ journalist' did a very good job. But he did do exactly what he intended to do.... people ARE talking about it, no?
I have to say that I was extremely disappointed with the debate afterward. Tom, I think, did a horrible job at being objective. Hubby and I both agreed the debate was incredibly one-sided. I don't even know why Simcha was even there. Tom nor the other 'colleagues' had any interest in what Simcha had to say. Tom kept cutting him off every chance he got.

Do you have any idea ,how many Jesus Mary & Josephs there was after Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Every one that witness the events at the time approx 2000 yrs ago wanted to name their offspring these names!!!!!!However, the bones of Jesus will never be found.
He already ascended body & soul into heaven after his resurrection

Where is the exact location of the cave-tomb?

+ What exactly was found inside the ossuaries?

+ How can DNA testing confirm marital spouses?

+ How can we know the inscriptions are genuine and not forgeries?

+ Who found the tomb initially and how was it discovered?

+ Is there evidence of human presence in tomb between 30 ad & 1980?

ah, no... even the archeologists who found the bones almost 30 years ago agreed they were not the bones of Jesus Christ.... someone just wanted to make $$$ on the story and fools out of people who would believe it

Hannah -

I watched both. As a skeptic, I beleive that the evidence was compelling, but left many other unanswered questions. I was NOT convinced. But compelled.

As for the debate, I was APPALLED at the biased nature of Ted Koppel's moderation of the debate. He wasnt a moderator - he was a bigot who wouldnt allow the filmmaker a chance to defend his work, but allowed the others to use personal opinions to attack the work.

Please check my account - I asked a question about the debate, and have had only 3 responses. I would love to have you weigh in as well!

I did not watch the show simply because every year around Easter they come out with another story about how Jesus was not the son of god or that he was not the man that you think he was. The fact that people make this films and believe this falsehoods make me feel sick and I think that everyone needs to pray for the people that are so confused in their beliefs.

one expert examining the writing thought it said Hanan and not Jesus

many have pointed out that 25% of women were named Mary and 4% of men named Jesus of Jews at that time...

in the end... like the Davinci code... and the gospel of Judas... it isnt good scholarship but shows the bias of some of these media bringing out poor scholarship during lent leading into Easter... expect more.. eh?

I can't imagine James Cameron convincing me of anything.

They suddenly found proof that all of Christianity is based on a lie? I don't think so.

If God did not put it in His Word then it is not true. Someone is trying to get people to believe this stuff. It is all fiction just like the DaVinci Code.

I never really use this word because I was lost once too...but that is just plain ignorant. The Bible says that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven. You ( and the Discovery Channel) really need to check your facts! Hint: its in the Bible.
