Garlic is fine in most cases. There are a few dogs that can't handle it and it will make them very sick. Garlic is an ingredient in many high quality dog foods. It is also in a supplement in the pet section. Brewer's yeast with garlic pills are sold in the health section of the pet store.
I have given my dogs garlic gel caps for years and never had a problem with them.

In moderation...sure.
I gave my dogs garlic tablets daily for a month or so with no ill effects other than making them stink. The garlic was supposed to repel fleas and ticks. I'm sure it worked as I couldn't hardly stand to be around them either. The garlic made the oils on there skin stink, so petting them left a stench on my hands. But it didn't seem to affect there health.

It used to be said garlic kept the fleas away.
Alot of canned dog food has garlic listed as an ingredient.
Giving him a clove, that is too much.
But food cooked in garlic, that's ok,
baking him/her treats with garlic, that's ok too.
But, I'd check with your vet. They know your dog best.

We sprinkle a little bit of garlic powder on our dogs food. They have never gotten sick or had any horrible gas after eating it. I've heard it also helps repel fleas...I'm not too convinced on that tho, our dog still had fleas.
