my cat sheds his claws naturally but one seemed to have dried blood inside the shedded claw. Does anyone know why this would happen , what it is, or if I need to do something?
Thanks

If your cat doesn't seem to be in any pain I wouldn't worry to much about it. If it would ease your mind, call the vet. They should give you some advise over the phone and it doesn't cost anything for a professional opinion.

What you mean by shedding his claws?

Cats do not naturally shed their claws, if the top layer of their claws peel off this usually indicates a vitamin deficiency in their diet. I would suggest that you take your cat to the vet for an examination.

Cats have a vain that runs into their claw, and just like a human stubbing their toe and getting a blood blister, if your cat has sustained an injury to their foot there can be a little bit of blood in the nail.

Make that doctors appointment now.
Lots of luck

cats have a vein in their claw...you can see it. Most people when clipping nails are told not to cut this part of the claw called "the qucik" or it will bleed. Your cat may have had the claw come off close to the quick and that is why you are seeing blood. If the blood is just in the shed claw and not on your cats claw...I would not worry about it.

It would appear that your cat is carrying the bubonic plague. It would be best for all of creation if you would humanely burn the cat alive to prevent any spreading of this disease!
