That programme advertised (I only stomached the advert, not the programme), implying religion as a matter of course has the answers. I don't think religions have those answers.

I think science has every answer, though limitations appear in engineering those answers, and that includes engineering the public part in it. Not everyone will always be happy, example - fairness upsets the 'haves' but makes the 'have nots' happier. With more fairness the majority of the public would be more agreeable to big changes in the world.

Hi. Some of the answers are obvious - waste less, conserve more. The problem is political. No one in government has the stomach to tell the constituents that they cannot have it all. My opinion.

True: neither science nor religion nor politics have the answers. Science, when it isn't mired in politics (which unfortunately is pretty rare) tries to find answers and admits when it is still short on all the answers.
The earth, in all its complexity, is a very difficult thing to model and every model has its limitations. So yes, science isn't providing all the answers.
On the other hand, what's science got to do with religion, and vice versa? Religion is supposed to be about spirituality and inner happiness and how to get along with one another; science is about figuring out how things work, and where they came from. They're completely different. Science can't help you find inner peace, and religion can't tell you if the earth is warming up or cooling down.
I'd stay away from any religion that claims to have a better handle on the environment because they read 2,000 year old sciptures.

I agree that science cannot provide all the answers. One thing to consider here is this: have we ever, as a species, Uninvented something? interesting, huh?

There is one religion that trancends all the politics and crap that goes with it.

Buddhism. Interestingly, it is coming to light that this peaceful religion actually comes close to what the cutting-edge of physics is now discovering with quantum mechanics and such! So much so that the Dalai Lama has hosted a few really interesting forums which bring together such scientists and Buddhist monks.

The main area in which there is a great deal of crossover is the Buddhist idea that all things are Interconnected, which is what science is only now beginning to realise.

There is one other thing that I can offer you - and that's the Buddhist idea that to fix things, we need to look within and fix our own minds first. Taking Responsibility, in other words...We are really good at passing off responsibility onto others - hence the crap that we find ourselves having to deal with now. We don't want the responsibility so we look to science and politics to solve all our woes! It is my firm belief that if we take it on to sort our own internal woes, then everything else naturally follows suit. If we are at peace within ourselves, then we CAN NOT do harm to the rest of the world because we'd be harming ourselves!!! Also, such an inner peace is reflected in what we do and others then see this and just maybe will follow suit.

Hope this helps!

Love and Light,

Jarrah

A lot of people tend to think that science has all the answers to everything and to all problems. If you ask any scientist, they will tell you that science has all the questions and that research only throws up more questions.
Science has told us about climate problems, it is now up to all to solve this. All the equivocating and cowardly self serving politicians will never get anything done, not only do they not have the imagination, they do not have the moral courage to put into action schemes to stop global warming. It needs us to stop our addictions to TV, cars, junk food, profiteering, aircraft, mobile phones, energy and consumerism. Politicians will not do this, they rely on us voting for them and will not put into practice permanent long term painful practices that will make them unelectable. Can anyone see Phony Tony doing anything courageous? I think not.

A number of websites go into this. Example:

A thorough, data based proposal is coming.

Here's the schedule for the IPCC, composed of thousands of scientists, with the reports being extensively peer reviewed.:

May 4, 2007 Working Group III SPM only Summary of options for slowing down global warming
May 2007 Working Groups I, II, and III technical reports Each working group’s full assessment, including SPM and technical summary (published by Cambridge University Press)

i agree with you in principal. but, science is always let down buy government & political restriction (it ALL takes too long) i own a small recycling company that cannot move forward because they place 2 many barriers for us all to make things happen. We recycle all paper, card, poly, cds, dvds, pet, ldpe, plastic ect upto 150 tonnes per week. The way forward?? lets do it ourselves before its to late...why not.. talk.. invent... communicate..organise ALL on line.. Between us all..together We have the answers, manpower, logistical & technical skills.. why wait or moan on about everybody else in power is not doing the job for us?should we wait to be told what to do when we have the answers? or wait till it costs us an absolute fortune... ie money or our planet! dont respond if you dont care enough cos will report it. sorry for this but i do care. 1 life, 1 job, 1 planet.. lets do it... it can al be recycled....let me know

Religion thinks it has the answers to everything.
The first step to helping with the climate worries is for people to stop consuming and wasting so many resources.

yes and no. yes because we dont know everthing yet and we learn little by little every day. and no because we arent taking as much action as we should. people just think global warming will go away by someone else doing it for them. but it wont its something the whole world needs to do
