How long can you wear a lace wig before you should take it off? Also, can you swin in it?

You can wear it one week with the appropriate adhesive before removing and cleaning it. Yes you can swim in it with the glue adhesive but not the tape. You must care for it the same as you do your hair from your scalp if you do swim in it to make sure it doesn't dry and become fragile from the chlorine. Remember chlorine can fade the color too just as it would if your own hair is colored and exposed to chlorine. You can avoid this by putting a thin layer of condtioner on the hair as a barrier.

I would be very careful about wearing a lace wig while swimming. Make sure you test your choice of adhesive at home before venturing out into the public and watching your wig float off in the water. Even the ones that say they are waterproof may leave you embarrased.
You can wear your wig as long as your adhesive will hold. It is up to each individual person. You may want to take it off every few days to care for your natural hair or you may be able to get a 2 week hold. Good luck to you!
