I have been medicated for depression about 4 years ago but it made no difference. My partner is ready to leave because of my moodiness. I just become so angry, I can't take criticism, my house is starting to fall apart because I just walk around all day not really doing much, but I won't sit down all day. I have incredible guilt over telling my children off, they are starting to walk all over me. Can someone please tell me if i'm suffering from something?

The symptoms you're describing, especially the forgetfulness and thinning hair actually sound like you might have a underactive thyroid. A lot of people with this problem get misdiagnosed as having a mental condition when it's really physical. Your doctor can test for thyroid problems with a simple blood test.

Hi Fairy jo,

Your suffering from depression and this is what happens. I too am 30yrs. old and go through the exact same thing, the only difference in I don't have children. My house is a disaster, I don't sleep and yet it's like your in a whole other "place" or "world"unable to function to do anything. Family doesn't understand because you look "normal" or well, despite them knowing otherwise.

Expect to feel sensitive and moody, it's part of depression. Have you tried different medication? there may be some other medication that may work better and control your symptoms, talk to your doctor. If your not already in counselling of any kind, go, this will make a difference for both you and your family. The hair loss, forgetfulness etc are stress related for the most part, as you are aware medications do have their side effects. Just know your not alone in this battle with depression. I wish you well!

Sincerely,

Alice H.

What meds. are u on? Get off ur pity pot first and make a list of what u got to be grateful for and a list of wh. u do not have and I guarantee u the positive will out weigh the bad. All that anger is resentments turned inward --u hate ur self-- so get real and grow up or die--not trying to be mean but that's wh. I was told yrs. ago and it helped --tough love . I've been to hell and back 40 times

HAVE YOU RULED OUT A PHYSICAL REASON? YOU MENTION ANGER-WHAT IS THE ROOT OF THE ANGER,HURT,FRUSTRATION OR SOMETHING ELSE. THE PAST? IF YOU WERE ON ANTI-DEPRESSANTS FOR FOUR YEARS AND IT DIDN'T WORK WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL YOUR DOCTOR? DOES THIS HAPPEN DURING YOUR PERIOD? YOU COULD HAVE PPMD. YOU MAY BE MANIC. YOU MAY HAVE AGITATED DEPRESSION. ARE YOU A PERFECTIONIST AND THEREFORE IF THINGS CAN'T BE PERFECT YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING. YOU NEED TO SEE A DIFFERENT DOCTOR-GO TO A MENTAL HEALTH CENTER-IF YOU CAN'T PAY THEY WILL GET YOU HELP. LET YOUR PARTNER GO WITH YOU AND DON'T JUMP ALL OVER THEM WHEN THEY ARE RIGHT ABOUT YOUR BEHAVIOR. GET HELP I DID, I AM ON LITHIUM AND A SLEEPING PILL, YOU PROBABLY AREN'T SLEEPING EITHER.
