It makes you irritable. Sound threshold decreases. Even normal sounds disturb

I think you may mean codeine.
Things become really loud because you shouldn't TAKE codeine, you should BUY it. If you TAKE it, then people will tend to shout "come back here you thief!" this gives the appearance of things becoming very loud!
