that I, an honor student, flunked a math test?!?!?! And that my teacher wants to talk to her?!? my dad is a math teacher for crying out loud! I had a really hard day when I took it, and my teacher is really worried! My mom will flip when she hears, but I HAVE to tell her! I just don't know how!

You should tell your mom that you messed up, and explain that you were just having a bad day and it won't happen again. Then talk to your teacher about doing extra credit to earn back some points.

You are already assuming that it will be a crisis when you tell her. Just be calm and honest and approach the conversation not as a disaster waiting to happen but as a discussion of how you did less than your best once but don't intend to keep doing that. I would think she could understand that.

Just stick it out and tell her. Explain to her that you weren't having a good day, and maybe throw in a "I didn't get how to do it" or something. Take what comes. Hopefully your mom understands, if not, I feel for you.

well, they are probably very smart. they know what a minus sign is! its all part of the equation. they seem to hold your success in esteem. agree with conditions and put them in contact. begin with, "mom, my teacher requested to talk to you. here is the number". "it concerns my preformance in my studies and i insist that you do not ruin my concentration for future tests by "fliping" ", or however you word it.
