Depends on how close you are when you shoot it. YES, at close range it can penetrate the skin and yes it can also cause severe eye damage. Whoever you're thinking of shooting.....DON'T! My sister accidentally shot someone with a bb guns years ago, it riccochetted off a concrete wall and hit her in the eye. She lost her vision in that eye and the pupil is no longer round, it looks like it has a glob off to one side. It was very upsetting for everyone. Just be careful, ok?

Yes and Yes the velocities of some cheap guns are limited to relatively low velocities(200fps or less)and at theese speeds the plastic pellets are harmless and bounce. there are even soft rubber dart board things that the pellets stick to, not into (dart board target must be clean). HOW EVER some of the gas operated millitary simulation "replica" air soft guns shoot much faster and can take out eyes or at least damage them and sensative skin. I am an avid paint ball player and a hunter too, and know what is safe and what is not safe. first let me say this. ALLWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION! you only get one set of eyes so be safe. for the most part though air soft is a relatively harmless sport as long as the rules are followed. I wear a mask ALWAYS when playing a game where I am shooting at another person or am being shot at. the closer you are the more kenetic energy the 6mm ammo will have . there is usually a mercy rule of no shot with in so many feet (5-10). play safe and have fun.

It depends on the muzzle velocity of the gun. Most will bounce off, except for high velocity guns like say going around 500 fps or more, than it's possible to break the skin. This is pretty rare since airsoft is a relatively low powered gun, they will bounce off 9 times out of 10, but they sting pretty good.

Airsoft ammo, even at 350+fps will leave a welt, sting like crazy, and possibly break the skin, but won't penetrate clothing or flesh.
Airsoft Gamers wear long-sleeve clothing to minimize the sting of being hit with bb's from high-powered airsoft guns, some (but not many) of which can generate 450fps!

It can, however damage the eye severely.
ALWAYS wear eye protection when shooting one.
Especially when getting shot AT with one.

No, 6mm plastic BBs are not designed to lodge itself under the skin and yes, it will blind you if you are not wearing proper eye protection (Paintball goggles are good.)
