I heard about the Ethiopian Monks having it hidden away but has anyone ever saw it but them? Or is it still forgotten, hidden away in that government warehouse where they put it after Indiana Jones recovered it? it looks like something as importast as the Ark of the covenant would not be so easly lost.

Are you serious? YOu are doubting the existence of the Ark of the COvenant. Do you know what it was? It was a little box made from accacia wood overlayed in gold. If you read in any other ancient document that a certain culture had constructed a little wooden box and covered it in gold, you would not doubt it. The only reason you doubt it is because you hate the BIble.

Why would the Bible lie about this? Why lie. Why not just take the time and actually construct a wooden box and guild it.

Do you realize much of what we "scientifically" know about Egypt is from single mentions of battles and the names of Kings on walls. In one case, from a single pottery jar. If you take a rational approach, the bible is no less an ancient near Eastern document than any other ancient near easter document. Given it's mention of the Ark, we can say with reasonable certainty that the Jews at some point did in fact do the unthinkable and guild a wooden box. Shocking!

Forget the monks. I saw that National Geographic Special, too. The guardian monk has to sleep sometime, and that crappy little fence around the "sanctuary" wouldn't keep out anything. Just because some guy who is making a film short he's looking to sell says something, doesn't make it so. Besides which, what's inside (if anything) might only be another of Leonardo's little jokes, like the Shroud of Turin. By the way, would you like to buy a piece of the True Cross?

Tee hee hee, Indiana Jones' warehouse :)
I have seen a report where there is a small monastery where they keep the arc, and one monk is in charge of watching it forever until he dies and a new monk is appointed. No one is allowed in to see the ark, but the mausoleum it is in is open to the public. For the life of me I can't find it on the internet, but I am sure I heard the story at least twice.

There is a great book by Graham Handcock called "The SIgn and th Seal" which is about his quest for the Ark, and how he followed his evidence to Ethiopia, where he encountered the Ethiopian Jews. It describes the legends concerning Queen Sheba and her alleged affair with King Solomon, and how the ark was stolen and brought to Ethiopia. Apparently, what they possess in Ethiopia today is nothing more than copies of copies of the ark...

Id enncourage you reading that book. Interesting, but nothing definitive...

You still hate me?

"It was found in Turkey, but no one is allowed to dig."

If it was found then why would they have to dig? If they have to dig then what did they find?

"Yes! Its in the Bible!! Also, my pastor told me about it too. Its a really well known fact."

If your pasture told you the smurf's village was in Greenland would that make it a fact too? The bible says the earth is flat and rests on four pillars is that a fact too?

"Supposely people have seen it. The Monks showed it to them."

Supposedly people have seen Bigfoot too but until someone can show the world a Bigfoot they aren't real.

It might not be hidden or lost it might just be like the ring in Lord of the Rings, fiction.

Its unprovable to historical methods of verification. Archaeological excavations might reveal it some day.

One theory is that it is under the temple mount. Another that it was taken away to Egypt after an Egyptian attack. If it was the scary thing that it is recorded to have been, it would have been too hot for the Egyptians, and the temple mount idea would be more reasonable. The philistines got it in David's time, but it caused such problems for them that they sent it back.

This is the problem when we take a collection of ancient stores as literal fact, rather than the myth it is. We think we have to find the place of Jesus' birth, or, find Noah's Ark. When we accept these stories as just that, STORIES, we could quit all this hopeless searching for things that have never existed.

Sammer are you actually saying the Bible has any shred of truth to it other than geography? If so you are afflicted with fantasy faith. There is zero evidence that any of it is real or any different than any other screen play like the many collectingdust in Woody Allens closet. The entirety of religion is only hope. There is a reason why its caled faith . That reason is that there is no truth to it.

For 5 bucks you get a free coffee, danish and 2 minutes of viewing.
The 5 bucks is to keep the riff raff out.
