I was on the freeway today driving along in my Ford Explorer when two eighteen wheelers started driving along side of me. I panicked me sandwitched in between two 18 wheelers I could not even see in front of me. I slowed down and let the 18 wheelers pass me! Has this ever happened to you ? Did you panick, or is this okay with you?

This is definitely a bad situation and you did the right thing by letting them go. I am a trucker, but when I am driving my own vehicle, I don't like being along side a truck any longer than I have to, I'll usually speed up or do as you did so that he can't forget that I am there. With two trucks the hazard is double. It's not just that the drivers might forget you are there, stuff falls off of trucks all the time, they blow tires and while most of them are operated and maintained safely, The evidence lies on the sides of every highway. I think it is a really good idea to limit your time being in close proximity to one. You don't need to "panic" just take appropriate action to eliminate the problem as you did. You did well and I congratulate you on your actions.

I wouldn't be exceptionally concerned if two trucks were driving beside me. If an accident were to happen in front of you in you lane and in front of the trucks in their lane. I can see this leading to imminent accident. Remember it is always safest to accelerate through a potential accident as opposed to braking into one. It takes some skill and lots of nerve but it's better than braking and inadvertantly causing an accident or braking and crashing into a pre-existing accident.

If you had a truck in front of you and behind you I can see the anxiety that would create. I would let off the accelerator until a gap existed between you and the two trucks that provided enough room for you to see you blind spots and make an accelerated lane change.

Trucks like to drive in a paceline as it cuts down on their gas consumption.

There is no need to panic. Panic just causes accidents. It was a good thing for you to do because that COULD have been an accident waiting to happen.

I don't panic. I just keep my eyes and mind focused on the road. But I would have slowed down to let them pass just like you did. good call.

Nothing to fear. They mostly stay in their own lane. They do NOT want to deal with the hassles after making contact with a car.

They were probably trying to get you to move so they could pass. They have to stay in the right lanes

Sometimes i panic but i have anxiety. It used to panic me when i drove in the left lane for some reason. I would say it's normal if you have anxiety.
