OK, my buddy put a tattoo on my lower back. We took all the precautions. We boiled the safety pins, and used new leather gloves from the hardware store. It is a sweet tribal design that I found in a dumpster behind a tattoo shop. It was already on the stencil paper and everything, and only a little dirty. Anyhow, we made the tattoo machine out of some old walkman parts and did the tat. We only had a 12 pack before we started each, so we were just buzzing. Now that the tattoo is done I am following my aftercare instructions very close. I am keeping Crisco on it and making sure to cover it with old shop rags and duct tape. I make sure to expose it to sun for at least 6 hours a day. The problem is when I take the rags off; chunks of flesh come off with it. The area around it is a weird green color, and it kind of smell like cheddar cheese. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong. Or is my skin just rejecting the ink?
Serious answers only please.

MY GOD BLAIR......don't you see your mistake (I had to read it twice before I spotted it).....NO EMO OIL...........Just have your buddy urinate on the tattoo (to clean it out) and then drench it in emo oil and cover with tin foil...

Oh no. I've heard of this. There is a way to solve it though:
What you need to do is get the buddy who gave you the tattoo. You both need to drink twice the amount that you drank when you got the tattoo, so 24 or 25 beers a piece to be on the safe side. Then what you need to do is get the same buddy to drive over the tattoo in a monster truck (you can rent them for about $1000/day). What this does is pushes all the ink to one side and then pops it, sort of like a blister. Immediately after that, your buddy needs to hop out and shave off any of the tattoo that you have left with a cheese grater. Then you need to pour 1-2 of the same kind of beer you were drinking when you got the tattoo on it to help it heal.
Good luck and Godspeed.

i know where you mistake was....you should have used rubbing alcohol on your safety pins too. Sounds like it's infected....if I were you, I would put some tattoo removal cream on it quickly...make sure to do it while the wound is open....this will make sure that you get all the ink....then put a bunch of neosporin on it. Keep it bandaged at ALL times... Re: chunks of flesh and the weird coloring....it's just a sacrifice for the art my friend - it will heal and will have ink in it again....re: the smell....take a shower and then scrub your tattoo with a loofah to get all the dead skin off. With re: to your skin rejecting the ink, you may want to go see a doctor about that. You should prob get that taken care of. Make sure to follow all the directions I said closely though....your tattoo is as risk!
hahaha - nice Blair :)

lol well... why didnt you drench the safety pins with alcohol! thers your first mistake. next.. you shoudl neve rput anythign on a new tattoo.. let it dry p and itch it when it needs to be itched, and pick off all of the scabs as well. you soudl have also had a few shots of tequila to apply the tattoo as well! you cant get a perfect tattoo without a few shots and beers thrown in there! but you are doing one thing right! laying out in the sun for 6 hours a day. kudos to you
but i think what is happening is normal.. sounds perfect!

Im pretty sure that ur skin is just infected. i don't have any tattoos myself yet. but if it wont harm the tattoo than just rub the infected area with Purell. it will sting a bit but if u apply it at least 3 times a day(wake-up, around 3:30, and before u go to bed sorta thing) it will kill all of the germs and it will be evident when its not infected anymore.

OMG, Blair, it sounds as if your tattoo is healing perfectly, that is normal. The Purell idea is a good one, but it may take away some of the bacteria festering in there, and that bacteria is good for any tattoo. Shame to see a tribal go to waste.........

Oh I know what you did wrong you need to go over it by dipping the safety pin in ink from a busted open sharpie and poking yourself with it over and over again, that should fix everything :)

well there's your problem!!
first you need to take some sandpaper and rub it vigorously on the tattoo. THEN you need to pour used motor oil on it and let a stray cat walk on your back. if you want it to be extra clean you should let your dog lick it.
your tattoo should be looking great in no time! good luck!

OMG OMG OMG - you rock...I want you to do my tattoo next.
Chucks of skin coming off! I am all over that. Please do me next? Its liek the next thing...I totally saw the guys on miami ink using that style of tattooing. Isnt that the style that pre dates razor and felt tip pin tattoos. Or better yet...the old fashion lead based paint tattoo...the lead makes it last a lot longer than todays ink. you die of cancer...but the tattoo has this great metallic luster to it.
