I have never heard of it, but I see no reason why you couldn't. I'm sure it would cost more, but if you are willing to pay I'm sure you could find a vet willing to do it. Let me know how that turns out. I'm curious. My vet would do it.

The two procedures are quite different. Removing the crown jewels inhibits the sexual reflexes and the irritating habits that go with them almost completely. A vasectomy does not - it only stops the sperm getting to the sac behind the penis. Although he won't be able to reproduce, he'll still want to, and will be quite capable of doing the deed, and often! Humans have a vasectomy when they don't want more kids, especially spare ones, but I can assure you that the sex urge is most definitely still there!

Neutering is easier. And sometimes vasectomy's don't work...it can grow back. I bet that a vet would do it, but expect to pay at least twice what you would for a neutering. That and with the neutering, you have a decrease in the levels of testosterone in the dog, thus reducing the amount of testosterone related behaviors (such as lifting the leg in the house, aggressive tendencies, and wandering behaviors).
**Oh, and the gaining wait thing...that's just a scapegoat because the owners over feed their dogs. But...it's not their fault...it's because the dog got neutered. How about taking it for a walk, and giving it less treats?

I have to agree that I think owners' feeding habits are the real culprits to animals gaining weight, as well as what we humans chose to feed our dogs. Spaying or neutering and possible weight gain that might occur is alot better than the alternative, which is unwanted litters and reproductive organ cancers.

As individuals stated on the following its an instinct to mate and its no longer for interesting. Dolphins are the in reality different mammal besides human beings that were shown to particularly do it for interesting. there's a nicer and safer thanks to neuter male dogs which invoves an injection quite of slicing. check out the link below for more suitable data.

Vasectomies are NOT recommended for dogs/cats. They do absolutely nothing ot eliminate testicular & prostrate cancer, they do nothing to stop unwanted male dog behavior and in a lot of cases they increase aggression.
Pets do NOT gain weight because of spay./neuter...they gain weight because of excess calories.

Yes, vets do both! Alot of people that have show dogs go for the vasectomy. I believe that you can't show a dog that has had his testicles removed. Just ask your vet about the pros and cons. I'm sure they would be more than happy to fill you in!
Good Luck!

pets gain weight if they are being overfed for their metabolism.... when a dog is neutered,, there is a super small incision by the penis - they take the testicles out from there,, your dog will come home with his scrotum intact..... eventually the scrotum gets smaller etc.. stays covered with hair ........ taking the sex drive from a NON breeding animal is doing him a HUGE favor....
