Despite the obvious (baby, STDs), I would also say you aren't as tempted.

It's hard to abstain from sex once you've had already had it. Sex can be addicting!

Also, you don't feel pressure to always have sex. When you DO get married you get to enjoy it!

What's wrong with the good-old standard reasons: abstinence is the only absolute 100% effective birth control method, and the only absolute 100% effective preventative of STDs, and the only way to prevent a sexual emotional attachment with someone you probably won't spend the rest of your life with.

You might get an STD, you might get pregnant, you might begin thinking too much about sex, if you get pregnant you might have to drop out of school, even for a time, you can't afford to have a baby, the father will promise you the moon, but as soon as you get pregnant, off he goes.

Honing self-control and good character would be my number 1 vote. Any old monkey can have sex just to feel good, but that is not all that there is to it and some strive to be more than monkeys. In fact, it is what separates us from the animals....well, many of us anyways. ;-)
