For those who have anyone that's in the military, it's hard to explain to a civilian. My friends and I use it as a way to stand up and say we are proud, we are strong, we support our husbands and all the other troops that fight to defend our freedom.

Especially the liberal democrats ! You can't possibly support the troops if you are demanding they come home next year!
You are giving comfort and political support to the enemy when you do this, which is the same as opposing the efforts of our own troops.
I see this activity as treasonous. I believe you have become the enemy of our troops when you openly oppose their efforts. You divide this nation with your anti war rhetoric and you cause pain and suffering to our troops. Let me explain !
When the insurgents hear about the opposition that anti war hacks raise, they see an opportunity to exacerbate the anti war rhetoric that you have already started. The best way they know how to raise that level of anti war sentiment is to kill more American troops, so that's what they do ! You damn fools out there who think you are helping are, in fact, helping the enemy.
You and Nancy Pelosi are causing a whole bunch of grief and loss to military families all over this country. I sure hope you are proud of your accomplishments and your politics, because I think they SUCK !

I don't think the phrase itself is over used.
What I DO think is overused is the feeling that because someone slaps a yellow ribbon magnet on their car, they are actually being supportive.
Apart from my obsessive hatred of all things bumper sticker and bumper sticker related.... I guess it's a nice idea that you can put your feelings into three words and proclaim it to the world.
However, in my experience, most of the people who do this don't actually DO anything to support the troops. I don't care one way or the other if they support or not, but if they do, then they should do something about it, and if they don't, they need to stop using the phrase!

I DO support the troops...and I mean it when I say it. I have several friends that have been in combat in the past few years. I think of them everyday, I thank them everytime I talk to them - and they REALLY appreciate the people that are behind them. For those of us who do support them, its important that we say it often. There are many people who reflect their dislike of Bush & the war onto our troops, and its not fair to them! Its like a sad re-run of Vietnam!

It's a blanket statement that people use to try to silence debate. If you question ANY part of the war. i.e. "How long before it's over?" or "Why are they doing X?" The war freaks start barking like a pack of rabid dogs, "Support the Troops!! Support the Troops!!"
It's sad and pathetic, but what can ya do?
It is interesting to note that the casualties of our soldiers are downplayed significantly by the war freaks. The general mindset of the war freaks seems to be, "So what if people are dying or being maimed for life, at least we've got a war going, don't we? Pass me a beer!!"

If you really want to support our troops then you would want this stupid war to end and bring them home to be reunited with their loved ones.
Over 30 Towns in the State of Vermont have filed impeachment resolutions against Bush and it’s spreading like wild fire!
The George Bush impeachment movement has arrived, just in time for the March 17 rally at the Pentagon. Here’s the best part! You don’t have to travel all the way to D.C. to perform your Patriotic Duty to America. There will be hundreds of impeachment protest happening across the Nation. Los Angeles is having a massive protest Saturday, March 17th 2007 at Noon.
These are just a few of the locations....
To find a location nearest you..Google. ‘United for Peace : Events’
I support our troops 100% and it’s time to bring them home!!!
As Americans it is time to make our stand to protect the Constitution and Fundamentals of what this Great Country was founded on. We can Bring George Bush to justice just like Scooter Libby.
Thank you...together we can make a difference... happy protesting!
