100% idol worship, viewed very very unfavourably by God, as are polytheistic ideals like trinities

Yes. Believing that an object is the representation of who or what you worship can be idol worship. Of course, if the faith in question is Christianity, they will jump up in defense saying that it's not.
The funny thing about that is, if a Christian saw a person of another faith doing the same thing they do - having an object of representation - it's automatically considered idol worship.
The Christian dogma is full of double standards and contradiction like the one stated above. It must be nice to have the conscience to be a hypocrite just because a bronze-age book says it's okay.

To worship anyone or image or thing other than the LORD God (God the Father, Word & Holy Spirit) is idolatry.
After Jesus Christ in His humanity raised from the dead, Jesus Christ the Resurrected Savior is LORD. We are also free to worship Jesus Christ the LORD. But the images, don't worship them. That is idolatry.
Most people don't worship a cross. But some may be tempted to worship a statue of Jesus. Also a statue of Jesus doesn't give Jesus justice. But a cross does, in that He died on the cross, shed His blood for the remission of our sins. He raised from the dead for our justification.
I love the cross, but not that the cross is a God in my life. It symbolizes what Christ did because He loves me too. But I am not attracted to statues period, and most drawings of Jesus, because, I don't think Jesus looked like that when he walked the earth. As far as art goes, I have to get the OK in my spirit that it is symbolic of Christ or does look some what like He did when he walked the earth. Also, visions that people have had of Jesus and drawn that are God inspired, I love.

If it is taking place of the Real Jesus and God then yes, it is. If it is only a representing of Jesus then no. I mean if you are believe the statue is doing the miracles instead of God it is an idol. But if you still worship the Jesus in heaven and use a statue to remind you of the real God then it is not idol worship.

Now I do think that praying to an "Idol" of Jesus is wrong. (Just my Opinion) Now why I say that is because there are so many versions. (White Jesus, Black Jesus, Mexican Jesus,etc..) And most people tend to forget about God. And worshipping a cross would be in the same manner. (I call it "Devil Wood") But if you say "I wear a cross for faith." Then I have no problems. Sometimes we want to ensure ourselves of faith, and we use the cross as a "Symbol." I don't pray to any "model" of J.C. nor do I a cross. But I wear a cross, and I thank the Big Sky Daddy and J.C.

Worshipping a statue of Jesus is idol worship. Worship of any image of God or Jesus is idol worship because we do not know what they look like. Therefore, it is not a true image.

Yes. You should let the cross be a symbol to you, not worship the cross itself. It's not the cross that died for you, it was Jesus. And the statue of Jesus could never take the place of the real thing.

A lot of Christians do believe that it is idol worship. When Christ died he rose three days later....So he was no longer on the cross....I guess it can serve as a reminder however wearing a cross with him still on it a lot of times is viewed negatively in some Christians eyes. And Yes viewes as Idol worship

It would be if people did that. I've never seen anyone do that though.
Having one in your home or church does not mean you worship the statue. It is simply a visual aid. A reminder.
People have photos of their loved ones all over the place. That doesn't mean they worship them.
People often leave flowers at the food of a statue. That doesn't mean they worship it. They are leaving the flowers for God. If I leave flowers on my doorstep for God, no one will think a thing of it. But if I leave flowers at the foot of a statue on my doorstep - people will be reminded to pray.

Technically, yes. However, in many of the churches I have seen, no one is worshiping the cross. I have seen a few denominations place candles, flowers, money etc. at the feet of Mary or Jesus. This looks pretty much idolatrous to me.

If you are actually worshipping it...yes.
But just having those things as reminders, much like having photos or mementos of loved ones, is fine.
Statues and crosses remind us of Jesus, of his sacrifice, of his mercy and our need to repent.
