If I prayed mere "mumbo jumbo", it would be a waste of time. I pray to the Lord God in heaven, who does hear and answer my prayers in just the right way, whether I understand that way or not.

Prayer is not a waste of time. First though you must believe in God. Otherwise why pray at all? Your relationship with God is based on faith. Read the bible for yourself. Don't take anyone else's word for what it says. Where you spend eternity depends
on your faith. Can you afford not to know?

Many people realize that when they pray, there prayers are answered. Sometimes my friend will pray for money in times of need. He prays for exact amounts simply to make sure that it somes from God. And sure enough, within the hour, he'll get phone calls looking for him to work, totally the amount he prayed for. (the latest amount was $2035.00) (he is a painter)
Science also shows that Praying releasing hormons in you Brain that cause the emotion of Joy.

Until you've seen the power of prayer in your own life I can see why you may think of it as a waste of time. However, those of us who have experienced it, feel quite the opposite. Perhaps, if you havent already, you should give it a try. See what happens. perhaps you too will then understand. good luck and may God bless you.

to remember his power and our obey for him
to feel that there is one can do any thing

Praying makes the people who do it more aware of the problems of others. This makes it more likely for them to effect change. So it does work.
