I have several issues with my stomach and was put on Nexium 40 mg/day by my doc. Three days into taking this med I developed bone pain in my pelvis and femurs. During activity (ex. skiing) the pain was debilitating. A pharmacist advised me to stop taking the Nexium. Sure enough three days off of it and my bone pain is completely gone. My doctor is unconvinced, but I don't want to take this med if it's causing this pain...any advice/similar experience?

it's a great medication for GERD and other gastro problems.
It never gave me any debilitating side effects but that's not
to say that you are not feeling some.

I did stop taking Nexium only because it's quite expensive and
I my doctor put me on something else less expensive.......

I am 25 years old male.
I'm 192 pounds 5'10 healthy person.

I had heartburn for going on 2 1/2 years.
Out of no where I started having bone pain and aches.
I did the research and found out nexium has caused this problem.
Of course I wouldn't of known it was effecting me if it wasn't for my workouts loosing weight.

It does not have symptoms unless your old or working out.

I recommend getting off that crap and taking tums and taking vitamins.

You have to manage your diet.

I think people with heartburn dinner develop natural acid carbon.

The reflux comes from gas inside ..

Do some research

A less frequent side effect of nexium is abdominal pain. Also, a listed anecdotal side effect is toxic epidermal necrolysis. If you get that you do get joint and muscle pain.
Things to think about, when did the pain start? Did it start before or after your skiing?
If you want, you can retry taking the drug and see what happens. If you get the same reactions, it is the drug.

Ive used it for about 5 years now each day. It's one of the best drugs outside of painkillers that I have ever used. But, our body's react differently from each other. Go on the nexium website and see what they say about precautions and side effects.

Your doctor is unconvinced because you were skiing. Pharmacist suggestion is correct.
However you need to go back on the medication without doing strenuous physical activity then see if pain reoccurs.(everybody may have different side effects)
If so, then doctor can prescribe a different type of medication
