It's an old wives tale. Just as long as you eat healthily, that's the important thing.

No, your cold germ wouldn't know the difference, but you might. You don't catch a cold from being cold. You have to have some nice person share their germ with you.
But I think you would feel much better having a nice hot bowl of Jewish Penicillin. Home made chicken soup. I don't know why but it will make you feel so much better. Stay warm and comfortable, get plenty of rest, breath lots of fresh air, and wait the little devil out. That nasty cold germ, will get sick of your company sooner or later, and depart, and Hey, it's a good time to do some reading. When he's gone you can eat all the cold stuff your heart desires.
Like the doctor always says: Take two aspirins and call me in the morning.
Hope you feel better real soon.

YOUR GRANDMA IS RIGHT.

The way you catch cold is as follows: Your body contains many types of germs, including disease-causing bacteria and viruses. Most of them don't cause any trouble because the immune system keeps them under control. But when your body goes through a period of stress (such as being exposed continuously to cold temperature) those germs become activated. When you are sick (when you have a runny nose, etc.), your body is already struggling with these disease-causing germs. Anything that can weaken your body further is counterproductive. Being exposed to cold temperatures is not good for you while you are sick. Your grandma is right!

in case you want chile peppers, eat those. That'll deliver your mucus flying! also, eat quite some garlic and ginger--those are warming, anti-microbial ingredients (cinnamon is also reliable.) eat culmination and vegetables and make 'em warm and noticeably spiced to save issues flowing on your sinuses. i could pass the dairy products because they make me more suitable mucus-y and they could do an identical to you. in case you want mushrooms, load up on them because they could have a tonic result.
