They're two words for the same thing. "Zits" is more of a casual, slang word. Still, it sounds nicer than pimple. I prefer the word "blemish" myself, but that can be a little too broad (it can include any sort of unusual/non-uniform spot on the skin's surface, like scars or hyperpigmentation). Speaking of "spot," that's another word (more common in the UK) for zit or pimple.

mostly those two words are use synonymously. However most people will called whiteheads zits and the one not filled with puss pimples.
