Looking for public places to go mining in Canada. U.S.A. has good treasure hunting spots...need info for looking in Canada.......

The only Canadian "gem" mines I know of are diamond mines in the far north (unless you're into non-precious metals?), and as far as I know, their mining rights are owned by various corporations. There are also significant gold mines that you can probably visit in British Columbia and the Yukon, but I really doubt you'd be able to find anything of value. If you're just interested in geology or whatever, it would be worth a visit. Otherwise, I believe you'd be setting yourself up for a disappointment.

Sorry but Idaho and Utah have all the gems and canada has hardly none !
