Move to England. Being an atheist is normal here - it's the religious folks who are the oddballs. We just humour them.

The only harm done on the non-believing community is by Christians who don't really follow what the Bible says on love, which is that we are to love our enemies and neighbours just as much as ourselves. Now, I want to just throw this out there that in the week or so that I have been on this forum, I have seen exponentially more statements posted that would turn the other way, where Atheists are bashing Christians. They say that because they saw a show on the finding of Jesus' tomb recently that that therefore proves Christianity to be false, when really, if you reason it out, it doesn't. They put Christians down because, in their minds, the beliefs of Christians are utterly insane and moronic. They come out with uneducated responses to questions and also post questions that are completely absurd if they were to pick up a Bible and actually try reading it for a change. Now, that being said, you have obviously seen it the other way, which I won't disagree with you there, because it is true that some Christians, not all of us so don't you dare generalize like you just have ever again because we are not all like this, do not, as I have said above, follow the words of Jesus and show love to those who oppose them. I can see the harm that Christians can do when they misuse the Scriptures and see them as something other than love, which is a mistake and every Christian who has ever done that should be ashamed of themselves and know that they will be judged on that on the Day of Judgment that the Bible speaks about. I am sorry for any hurt that my brother and sister Christians have caused you because of their close mindedness and conclusion jumping that they have made. It is not right to attack someone just because they don't believe the same as you. Instead, the best approach is to use the words of the Bible, reason, and love to show them where they err in their ways. That is what Jesus has commanded us. So, in short, it is really a horrible thing that has happened to you and I am sorry for the pain that you have felt at the hands of some of my fellow Christian brothers and sisters.

Hi,
I am truly sorry to hear about your friend;
I just want to say that religion is like a hammer.
You can build a beautiful mansion with it, or you can hit someone in the head and kill them;
Its not the hammer; its the nut who may be yielding it.
I don't know who would be ostrosising you;
I thought us Christians were getting the crappy end of the stick today.
The 9th circuit court made a decision and I was sent the email notice of it today:
If you have a government job, or at the discretion of the private company you work for, if you say any one of the following words/phrases, you now lose your job along with any pension, life ins., or any other benefits.
That is on a first offense:
1. Family values.
2. natural family
3. marriage (it is banned if you are talking about only a union between a man and a woman)
If you think this is nonsense go check it out yourself. Do you realize this is a free speech amendment to the constitution of the United
States?
Frankly, i think everybody should be worried, because next week they may be calling what you say illegal speech. We are getting told what we are allowed to say and what we are not allowed to say. If you wanna be upset about something, hell, I'd start right here, where everybodies civil rights are getting screwed right before our very eyes.

I am sorry that you may be losing a friend. I am not convinced that the Bible was the cause though. I wish you were open to seeing what God wants you to learn from this. What harm was done? Did you lose a friend because you stuck with your atheist beliefs? If your beliefs mean a lot to you, was that worth losing a friend? Do you need to take a new look at your beliefs or at least at what the ultimate purpose of this scene is?

Your question is purely too lengthy. you would be able to desire to break it up into 12 questions simply by fact each and each demands a some theory and time to respond to. yet i will attempt to %. 2: #3 some Christians don't have a topic with the large Bang concept "Then God reported, 'permit there be easy--" not all Christians take the creation account actually. #10 The OT authors have been Hebrews, specific. yet Jesus got here to evangelise and save each and every physique Jew and non Jew alike. Saul replaced right into a righteous and zealous Jew, a Pharisee, who replaced into miraculously switched over to Christ. Acts 9:15 "however the Lord reported to him, 'go, for this guy (Paul) is a chosen device of mine to hold my call earlier Gentiles, kings, and Israelites." Luke 2:30-32 Simeon's prophecy with regard to the toddler Jesus: "for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have arranged interior the sight of each and every of the peoples, a easy of revelation to the Gentiles, and glory on your human beings Isreal."

Why blame others for the choice of an individual?

The bible doesn't make people stupid. Stupid choices are made every day without the help of any book.

People lose friends all the time. You should count your blessings that you lost a friend over religion rather than a bomb or cancer.

Okay you know what seriously if you want to be an atheiest be an atheist DONT PUT CHRISTIANS DOWN for believeing in what they believe in because you know for dang sure you dont like it when people put you down. && as far as a book harming you maybe you should look more into it before you accuse the bible of giving you problems that you or your friend may or may not have afflicted upon themselves ..

It is not the Christians or the bible that dose any damage, it's the personal choices people make that create problems in their lives, it is ironic that even Christians need something or someone to blame for their problems, because of the choices they make, so take some responsibility for your own actions, it is something we all need to do, and quit blaming others for the choices you make.

can you see the harm atheism does? we're forced to accept atheist ideals in society or be called inferior. we're forced to hear all the negative comments about God, His "implausibility" and that we're a bunch of idiots. we're regarded as scientific inferiors, and our evidence is generally rejected from the scientific community. why do you think atheists and Christians tend not to get along?

and a friend is important, but if you are no longer friends, it's not because of Christ, but because of you [two]. If you had a fight over morality, it's because you don't believe in it. If you had a fight because you made fun of his beliefs, then that's your fault. I'm not saying you're a bad person, just one who is technically too quick to point the finger [ at the Bible ].

Light Bringer, your argument is kind of absurd. Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction, and Jesus' Lost Tomb are an archaeological documentary; neither is a work of polemic, nor a free-for-all "bashing" of Christianity. The fact that you don't realize this shows that you don't even know what something would LOOK like that actually "bashes" Christianity. For one thing, it would not only be willing to say "Christianity is false", but it would also go so far as to say "Christians are fools" or the like. Now, how many shows and movies do you know that are willing to do that?

The fact that not 100% of all people in the world avoid publishing any works of fiction or documentaries that in any way disagree with your pre-set assumptions about the world, does not mean that Christianity is being "bashed", it just means that there are different points of view out there. What's next, are you going to say that anyone who doesn't go to Church is "bashing" Christianity?

And, to wefmeister: that's a pretty horrific statement. So you devalue human life based solely on whether the human agrees with your ideological religious beliefs? What's next, are you going to be OK with rounding up the atheists in camps and gassin' 'em, because, after all, it's "logical" for atheists to consider their lives meaningless? Not only do most atheists not consider their lies meaningless, but even if they did, they're still human beings and deserve respect and empathy. Most atheists consider all human life meaningful and precious; that just don't consider it valuable because of some non-human third party who says so. The fact that we "die forever" doesn't make life worthless, anymore than the fact that all things in this world are temporary makes everything worthless; things have value just in the beauty and happiness we find in them for ourselves, not by virtue of their immortality. We'd be in real trouble if nothing in life, or anywhere, could have any value except by being immortal!

I find it hilarious when Christians, especially in the U.S., complain about being persecuted, like so many are bitching about on this thread. Thaaat's right. You Christians are so unfortunate, so marginalized in this society. Kind of like how white people are so marginalized here.
