Honestly being a mother of a 2 year old, I would be iffy about it because of your age, but if I knew you and knew that you were responcible then I would consider it, but honestly a few parents will be iffy about the idea because of your age, maybe watching a 5 year old or something first would be the best because babies are A LOT of responcibility.

Most states have a law where you have to be 13 or 16 to babysit.
I have a 2 year old and honestly would not leave him with anyone under 16 and I have to know the person I leave him with, there are just to many cases of babysitters abusing children and last year they had a teen babysitter kill the baby she was watching.

I don't think so. I have an 11 year old and I would not let her babysit and she is mature enough to do it, but there are safety reason why she is not ready to make decisions in an emergency should one arise. I would also not let an 11 year old babysit for my children. Perhaps you should offer more of an entertainment service, such as playing with kids while parents do work around the house or yard and need the kids too not bother them like while they are trying to pack up for a move etc....

I have 4 children consider this-
Lets say your baby sitting my children, my 9mth old screaming as she's teething and won't settle, my 3yr old wants a sandwich and is trying to make it himself as your busy with the baby, my 6 & 9yr old are fighting and hitting each other cause my 6 yr old called my 9yr old an idiot! How do you handle this? And while your handling this the t.v just blew up and has sparked a fire!!!
No I would not let an 11yr old babysit my children not even one at a time. Look into perhaps playing with them while parents are busy and when your a bit older expand into baby sitting.

i'm not sure, since i've never met you i don't know your persionality, if you were really mature and knew how to actually take care of a baby then. I see a babysitter as anouther parent sometimes you hve to look out for the baby, make sure he dosen't get into any trouble, have patients etc.

You need to find out what the legal age is in your state first. Second - go to a babysitting training course and get certified. It's through the Red Cross...talk with your parents though and they can give an assessment of where you are. My 11 year old is ready and going to start sitting soon.

Let's see, 11, that puts you in about 6th grade? I think you should be old enough. Talk with your mom and dad and see if there are any neighbors the need babysitters. It's always easier to start close to home. That way, if there's a problem, mom can run over and help.

No offense, but HECK NO. I think any parent who would hire an 11 yr old to babysit is nuts. I think in most states 11 is too young to be left alone with other children legally.

no, you have to be 12 years old to be left alone. in reality you need a babysitter still. i would not leave my son with anyone less than like 14. just becasue babies are HARD to handle on your own. do you know how to measure formula properly? what about changing diapers with uncircumsised boys? what about when a baby vomits on the floor or swallows somthing taht makes them choke? could you handle that?

Only if there is an adult present to help you in case of emergency. 14 is the ideal age to be left alone with infants and only if you are first aid and CPR trained. Ask your parents if they would be willing to let you watch friends children when they go out on their date nights. That way you can still "babysit", but you have an adult there just in case!
