Yeah, but if you had Social Anxiety Disorder it would be way more obvious and crippling. Some teachers aren't the best and it's not always safe to raise your hand in class. A good class has every answer be a good one.

There is nothing wrong with being quiet. A great man once said, "Better to be silent and thought a fool, than open one's mouth and prove it"

Just chill and dont look at it as such a big deal. Other people in your class don't care about what you do; they are too worried that they wont make a fool out of themselves. Plus, Junior High has absolutely no significance, even 1-2 years down the road.

Case in point: one of my friends was convicted of having a foot fetish last year (one of the most embarressing things that could happen), and for a week or so he got so much **** for it that it was ridiculous. However a month or so later everyone has completely forgot about it, and he hasn't lost any friends, or any of his previous social standing.

Maybe you're just shy. It's not uncommon at 14. Try not to worry about what people think of you. The sobering fact is --they're probably NOT thinking of you. They are wrapped up in their own little world of rent, keeping their boss happy, pursuing their love interest, fighting their own demons, etc.

Try not to think about yourself, and what others may think of you. Instead, focus on ways to make the other person feel comfortable in your presence. Many people are uncomfortable, just like you, and would LOVE to be around someone that makes them feel relaxed. Focus on others and you will bloom like a flower.

Remember, life is beautiful. Demonstrate this beauty to everyone you meet.

This is COMPLETELY serious - this helped me when I was a freshman in college.

HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE, by Dale Carnegie.

The BEST book on the subject, because you don't do anything fake, or even all that different - you just do it better. It's not a Tony Robbins "CHANGE YOUR LIFE" kind of thing - it actually makes you more sociable, more talkative, and more interesting to other people.

Seriously. Get it. Read it.

If you want to be more talkative then you have to be more informative. I you want to join or start a conversation with them first you must have some knowledge about what to speak how to justify their questions. May be you may feel nervous to talk with girls. It happens to all when they speak for the first time. But there is nothing to feel nervous when you speak with boys.
Just update yourselves with the latest happenings in your school and the matters that occured in your gang etc. They are not going to slap you unless you don't use any abusive words. So just go and feel free to speak.

Don't think about it as a room of strangers - think about it as a room of possible new friends! Take risks sometimes - you'll be surprised that just by increasing your confidence in class will really improve your whole life!

you sound like you are a bit shy=just pretend it is all your friends in the room with you and answer your teacher as you are marked on social contact too
