I was on a date with this guy at the beach and we were just talking and out of the blue he asked me, what race are you ? And I said I am half White, a quarter Native American, and a quarter Black. Then he said "That is amazing because you are beautiful, I guess its a good thing you don't look or talk very Black".
Questions:
1.Is he racist or something ?
2.What is "talking Black", all of the people on both sides of my family speak proper english.
About me:
-I am 19
-My Mom is White and my Dad is Black & Native American
-My Dad is a Cardiologist & my Mom is a Teacher
-I have goldish/carmel skin, I have long straight hair, I am tall & thin, and I have green eyes
-The guy I was on a date with was full White just in case you were wondering

Not all Black people talk with a "Ghetto" slang, so he must not be very educated about Black people

It is racist. What he is implying is that black people are not beautiful. He is also implying that all black people talk a certain way. Sounds like he is both racist and culturally ignorant.
If you have the chance to talk with him again you should educate him. You don't have to be nasty, be calm and polite and maybe he will take in some of the information.

Okay this is a very touchy question but heres how it is:
He may not be racist, probably not. He just realizes that he, being white, may not want to date a girl who is all black because of the social aspect. Oftentimes a situation like this would cause alot of people to stare. And he also realizes that the possiblilty of a mixed child might make that child's life more difficult, that is if you and he were to get married and have children.
As far as "talking black" goes, there are some black people who talk so fast and with such a "ghetto" accent as you call it that I cant understand them, and there are other black people I know who articulate themselves very well and that I can understand just as well as a white person.
And just so you know I'm not racist. I just realize that there are differences in white people and black people.
Let me also add that if you like this guy you should give him a shot.

You no that old saying “birds of a feather flock together” it means that if you don't flock with a different focus once in a while, you fall in love with your own kind to the point of thinking that all others even their own types are inferior. This develops from Man’s love of illusions that are little more then missing the real reason why we pass through this place called planet earth, do you think that the illusions that man practices are real beyond a group that clarifies their stances of ignorance that shows by their picked time to over act.
Yes racism is nurtured through ignorance that is propped up by not knowing who we live with here on planet earth.
Look him over again just to justify your understanding of his choice of words. But beware of your circle that tries to mold your reactions collectively.
Every race has that slang that identifies, to be there when the feeling is being used is of acceptance by the group. It's real and don't disrespect the moment for it's real.

YES HE IS. I think he has a problem with the way he "THINK" black people act or talk. To tell you the truth I see alot of white people are "ACTING" and "TALKING" black......to answers your question on What is talking black? Some people say we have a language that is smooth and straight to the point,no sugar added. p.s I hate to be the one to tell him ...there is no pure race. You sound like a very pretty girl..your blessed with the best of all worlds. Drop that zero and find someone who likes you just the way you are.

If this was your first date I think he was just nervous, and didn't mean any harm by it. Just watch him, and listen to what he says, if he says something remotely racist ask him about it. Also when he say "Talking black" he might mean using slang.
Good Luck

you might not want to take it too personal. sometimes guys get caught up in the moment. unless you could say he was honestly telling the truth. like after he said it did he kind of look at you weird like his foot was in his mouth... but if he said it and din't think twice he's probably racist.

First date jitters I say. I say don't make too much of it and assume he's racist. Maybe he is but too soon to tell. I think he was just nervous.

Number one: He is not a racist.
Number two: You sound like a very beautiful person.
Number three: He probably thought that you are very beautiful, and wanted to know what race you were. You know, where you got it from. What form your heritage made out your physical body
