If so how much would it hurt them and where on their body would you scratch them?

Why................ Well anyway IF I were to fight I would scratch the face it's the best place, I't hurts worst if you scratch toward the eye's............ I've done a bit of fighting myself take my advice if you plan on fighting someone wear rings(better when you punch) LOL

Heck no I use my fists. My nails are much to beautiful for that kind of trauma. A fist to their face is a memory that would last for a lifetime. Not to mention a noticeable black eye is like a trophy.
