not random, but not god made either, just a realistion of a process of evolution that has taken millions of years.
we only have it because that is what we percieve. there are lots of things we cant percieve, like antimatter and parallel universes. Knowing it is us who is seeing things, seems logical to me.

The image of God is more a matter of our souls, not necessarily our physical characteristics. Mankind is unique from animals in that we have things like developed societies, history, culture, art, justice, morality, technology, science, philosophy, transcendence of environment, a sense of self-awareness, and most importantly; religion and knowledge of God.

neither, evolution is more than random chance, traits that confer some selective advantage become predominant with a population
also I doubt humans are the only "self-aware" species on earth

I wouldn't say either. It was a brought about by a very intricate and complex interaction of simple elements that simply kept expanding upon itself.
