You don't put any ointment in a cat's eye unless it is recommended by your veterinarian. You could damage the cats eye by using over the counter ointments. As far as flushing out a cats eye, ugh, I don't think you want to try that either. Kitty will be very unhappy with you and will be more than glad to show you too.

Only thing I can suggest to you right now is to take a warm wash cloth, white, no colored cloths. Wipe his eye a few times a day and talk nice to him while you are doing it so you won't make him mad at you. It could be just an irritation of the eye. If it becomes worse or has any puss draining from it. It would be time to call the vet. I hope this helps and I hope too that kitty feels better soon.

My cat has allergies and tends to rub one eye till it's red and raw. If you notice a lot of dust around or extreme temperature change, the poor thing probably just has allergies. I take a cool cloth and wipe the area if it looks really irritated, it gets better when there's more moisture in the air. The dryer the weather, the more her eyes itch.

Ok, don't put neosporin in your cat's eye. You can cause permanent blindness. If the cat will let you, you could try rinsing it's eye with some saline solution (not contact solution) But I definitely reccommend going to a vet, it's possible your cat could have a scratched cornea, which if you leave it untreated, can cause major damage. Eyes aren't something you should mess around with!

if you can flush the eye with saline solution, the contact type, it will help if it is a foreign object, dirt hair etc.
i know some breeds have are subject to eye problems such as eyelids which may need to be surgically fixed. also an eyelash 'out of whack' may be scratching the eyeball.
