Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine (Valium group) its only common use now in UK is 1 week course to avoid DTs in alcohol withdrawal.

It was used as a chronic anxiolytic in the past, but no good doctor would use it in this way now. It was never really very useful and patients developed addiction fairly rapidly.

Congratulations at trying to stop it, take it slow, and I wish you luck. Unfortunately the most you will feel is more alert and less sluggish, and have the satisfaction of knowing you are no longer dependant on a drug with little therapeutic effect. I am not sure what other answer you were looking for?

Please get specialist advise in your weening off process. It's a very slow procedure, and one you can't hurry. I know, I've been there. Good luck!
