After a long time of not talking with my ex at all he contacted me and we got to talking. One fo the things he told me was that he was afraid that he would stay alone. He said that he was afraid of never having a daughter, son and a wife.Ok we were thinking of getting married at some point ,and it kinda hurt me that he said this. So why did he tell me this? to hurt me? To throw it in my face that I am not good for him or what? Seriously I am so confused over this little expression.

I don't think he intended to hurt you. He probably still feels close to you and he feels able to express himself more with you because of that. Don't take it to heart. He is the one with the problem not you.
In the future if maybe you should break everything off cold. You need to move on and start living your dreams.
Let go of your hurt and anger. Feel pity for him.
I hope the both of you find happiness someday. Relationships are the hardest thing we do in life.
