Hi Im just wondering if there are any vets or people who have a knowlege of animals on here. The thing is I have got 5 cats and one cat always seems to have a sore eye, it doesnt look like conjunctivitis as its brown and almost looks like a scab ive tried bathing it but it doesnt it helps for a while but comes back and is all around the eye, she doesnt seem to be in pain with it and isnt scratting or pawing at it. None of the other cats have this problem only one. She is a house cat and doesnt go out side so she cant of picked out up because she doesnt go out.
Iam starting to think that it could be the cat litter we use, as once we used a different brand and that week her eye seem to clear up, the brown stuff hadnt gone completely but it wasnt as much and didnt seem to be as red. I know we should really go to the vets but Ive looked online at the vet sights and nothing matches what she has.

another cat could have scratched it while u werent looking or it could be a type of herpes. it may not hurt now, BUT later on if its not taken care of, it most likely will get infected. since it keeps coming back, then i would really suggest u take ur cat to the vets. u dont want it to become infected and hurt the eye. just take it to the vet and they will tell u exactly what it is, and give u the appropriate medication(s). Good Luck.
ps.
if u cant pay for a vet bill, how about u just ask them if its ok if u pay in sections. i did that once before i started working @ the vets office.

Sounds like you are on the right track. I was going to suggest that it must be something around the house that your cat has a particular allergy to. If it is only the one eye then that is peculiar so maybe the irritant has moved beyond the external area of the eye. You should definitely when possible take the cat to the veterinarian. In the meantime change out the litter for another brand and do a major house cleaning.

A few things come to mind.
1. might be allergies to something in the environment but seems unlikely since it is one eye.
2. might be that the one tear duct is too narrow this happens not much you can do unless you go to eye specialist (surgery)
3. maybe she has inflammation in one eye, ear, sinus or tear duct causing it to not drain properly

If they decide it is eye or tear duct inflammation they have Steriod eyedrops but they are very spendy I think I paid 40 for one small bottle of eye drops really didn't notice much improvement and they burn, my cats seem to go away after a few years.

Its possible its a herpes infection (not the same type people get) You should have your vet look at, they can give you an appropriate medication if it is.
