Singapore despite its veneer of Western civilisation uses corpral punishment frequently on both its indiginous population and on foreigers too.
All the countries of South East Asia still practice capital punishment also - even for the use of illicit drugs. But these draconian measures have not had an effect on the reduciton of crime rates. So you have to ask - do corpral and capital punishment work?
