I am 19 years old.

I have been dating my girlfriend for over 1.5 years. The first 1.4 years of this relationship I was very sweet to her, did lots of planning (surprise trip to the zoo, romantic dinner at a cleared out restaurant which I managed to pull of thanks to a friend, and many other occasions) But all of this time I have been hurt because I always felt like she did not make much time for me and that I was not being appreciated. So, in time, I stopped saying that I missed her/ loved her as much, I stopped planning romantic dates, and am still nice to her but don't act as infatuated.

Since this change only now she is the first one to say "I love you" and finally making time to see me more.

Can somebody explain this to me? Do girls subconsciously prefer guys who don't show as much attention?

Some girls are more of "get it" than "give it" and she probably understood that you were really nice to her and she wasnt. Thats all i can think of mate

It's the ol' "you don't know what ya got til it's gone" syndrome. She thinks you have lost interest in her. BUT it sounds like you went a bit over board and women don't like pusses either so play your hand with a poker face. You are holding the cards now...wait and watch.

Yes, of course. Women need space just as men do. We hate clingy guys. Also, romance is dying slowly, and more women are starting to realize and appreciate this.

she loved the attention
and now that it's gone
she really wants it back

she didnt really appreciate it until she realized what she had
not too many girls are like that
but some are
just tease her from time to time
(not in a mean way)
but as in a flirty way
she'll want you more

good luck buddy

I think lot's of women love this.

They play silly head games with you.

They want what they can't have. No wonder men go nuts.
