Since America is the richest country, you'd think the women would have the highest standards. Yesterday, at the gym, I saw an American white woman, wearing a gray tanktop and gray spandex pants (flared at the bottom), take off not only her shoes, but her socks as well. Even though the sign clearly says that everyone must have shoes on for sanitary reasons. She just had her bare feet on the floor (who knows what's on that floor), and began stretching. I looked at her balled-up socks and shoes. Coincidentally, her socks had the "USA" flag design on them. But what disgusted me were that her socks were sweaty (she had just got done working out), and the inside of her socks had dirt spots.
I thought American white women make themselves out to be "better" than everyone else yet she has dirty sweaty socks and can't follow the gym's instructions for hygeine/health reasons?

To the people that keep asking if I looked "inside her socks." The socks were inside out -- that's what I meant by the "inside of her socks." She just balled up her socks and threw them on the floor (not far from where I was stretching). I couldn't help but noticing the sweaty socks with dirt stains on the inside.

Juno: What makes me a male chauvinist? For noticing she's dirty and nasty? You're weird. You're also a female chauvinist pig.

LOL! You seem angry! The US is the richest country. Luxembourg has the highest average salary per capita. The US has the largest economy in terms of GNP. That's what I mean by "richest country." If you look at richest in terms of average salary, then yes, the US is third. But in terms of what country's government can do the most spending, it's without a doubt the United States.

Yes, I was expecting her to be "shower fresh." I didn't expect her to have sweaty dirty nasty socks. I think perhaps I watch too much American television like "The OC" and American movies like "American Pie."

Ok, she broke the hygiene rule, but I have got to ask you this: When you have just completed a workout, are you clean? Who doesn't get sweaty and nasty after being in the gym? That's why they have showers, and that's why a billion products are on the market to counter sweat, stains, and odors. People get sweaty and dirty, and when they get sweaty and dirty, they stain their socks, shirts, bras, and undies, and anything else that comes into contact with their skin. Were you expecting American women to be "shower fresh" after working out in a dirty, sweaty gym?

They think all Middle Easterners are terorists No, not all of them They don't like Asians unless we kiss their ***es No, I've always got along great with every asian person I've ever met They want all Mexicans to go back to Mexico, Just the ones that are here illegally They think all Mexicans are illegal Not all, but there are many they think all Latinos are Mexican (lol) No, not at all They think all black people are out to get them No, most aren't they think all black men are thugs No, The ones I know aren't they think all black women are ghetto and loud No, but that's not to say I've never seen any They think all Asians are from China or Japan Nope They think everyone looks alike except them If I'm honest, certain races do look more alike than others They think Europeans have contributed more to this world than anyone else (without ever knowing anything outside of European history) As far as western culture goes and as far the the history of the last 200 years, Europeans have been dominant They think they are the best looking (and they still have been proven to have the least confidence) Nope, I consider myself average looking They think they are "True Americans" for some reason I can trace my ancestry back to 1686 in North America on my mother's side and about 1712 on father's side. And since the United States didn't exist until well after that. I do consider myself a true American. They think all Native Americans are dead (and somehow have no remorse...) And only in the US do people believe there is such a hygiene issue with bare feet. Well, I've been barefoot (in gyms and everywhere else) for ten years, done quite a bit of research into the matter, and I've come to the conclusing this aversion against bare feet is based on myths and assumptions. Bare feet are not prone to disease, here in Europe PE in schools is normally taught barefoot and kids DON'T have much athlete's foot nor have I ever heard of a foot injury in the gym.... while US companies often have signs up requesting shoes to be worn this is mostly to cater to the preference of their customers, the majority of whom also believes bare feet are dirty. However, pretty much anywhere outside the US, including Europe, Canada, all Western countries with high health standards too, the majority of people believes going barefoot is healthy! We have no myths that going barefoot is against the law, we have no myths that going barefoot will instantly give you foot fungus or worms or other diseases, we have no myths that you'll get cut up as soon as there's a single piece of glass somewhere on the floor. This is all backed up by my own experiences; used to be sickly all winter long, in the past ten years I've missed work once (for all of two days) and even a stuffy nose is rare. Never had a cut either even though I never divert my step. No fungus, no warts -my only wart ever I had back in college when I wore boots all day. If you don't like bare feet, fine, everyone has a right to their personal preference, but please don't get your health education from signs on store windows or gym walls... don't spread these myths around, the myths are far more persistant than foot fungus ever was.

Are you new or something?
Whoever said that American women have the highest standards? What you just described does not sound that uncommon. Although, you would think that she would have kept here shoes on with such a sign posted but American don't always do what the signs tell them to do.
I don't suppose that any other people are that much different. I have friends from other countries and I have visited other countries and I don't see that people are all that much different at the core. Sure, some customs and language are different, but people are basically the same wherever you go.

dear observer
been clean is most of the time relate to your education since you are a baby !! and so on when you are growing up
If you grew up without this proper skill of hygienic procedure you can't possibly know how to behave in public or clean up yourself in your intimacy ...
If a person wasn't educated that well how can you place that person on a pedestal because he or she is an American citizen! This is absurd !! and ridiculous to generalize people like this...
So in your point of you every American citizen is a clean person What about the needy, the prostitute , the drug addicts or the big sloppy people who can't reach some part of their body in the shower???
If you consider the whole planet in each country you will find dirty and clean people as well it's not related to the citizenship but the education and the economical environment or worst the social one
think about that for a second or two ...

I about closed my browser when suddenly I felt just as compelled as the next person to respond to this question as probably your lowest point in what seems to be another one of your pointless, yet self-revealing questions(And let me say you don't have much to reveal as you sound shallow). Questions such as your "Why I'm glad not to be a woman?" and this one just made my day. I'll give you credit for making me smile and laugh at such entertaining idiocy, but you make me ashamed to be the man I am because people like you give us a bad name by generalizing not only for the sake of a useless question (Honestly, what possesses someone to feel the need to post a question in the form of not only a stereotype, but one that holds no value?) Apparently you have nothing to worry about BUT stereotypes, the human process of perspiration (what the heck do you expect from a HUMAN who exercises?), and the designs or emblems on other people's socks. You know America is called the "Melting Pot" for a reason, so who cares if she's sporting a particular sock? Oh, and just to point out a few other ignorant errors of yours, as far as America being the richest country (god you'll buy into anything you hear, don't you?) Luxembourg outranked the United States putting it in 3rd. (http://www.aneki.com/richest.html). Also, your attention to detail serves as a prejudice insight on your view of others. Ultimately, you'll fail at life.

why you let yourself be led to believe rumorswho know. But you strating one in the process. You saw one woman do these things. Not all people have the same personal hygeine habits. And besides how can you say that a woman who was working out at the gym is at her best any way. Doesn't it prrove htat at least she cares about her body? Either way. Don't be so quick to judge nor to accept hearsay. Make your own opinions and don't be misguided by the opinions of others.

Your question doesn't make much sense, most people probably don't think about which nation has the cleanest women and even if they did cleanliness isn't connected to integrity, and even if it was, in a lot of places, taking off your shoes and socks is a sign of integrity.
Also it is just one incident, so you can't really counter a generalisation with another one.

I am a White American Woman and do not think I am better than any other person, whether they are rich/poor, whatever race, creed or sexual preference. So what you thought is wrong, we are not better. If you are judging a person by sweaty gym socks than you've got much bigger problems than worrying about a white woman's integrity.

Dang it...you weren't supposed to see that. We white American women have a double super secret society that gives the illusion we're hygenic when in fact we're all fat, stinky, nasty and gross.
You don't want a woman like that do you?
Good...then perhaps it's time you should go home and take a wife from your native land and forget what you saw...and stay there with the woman from your motherland because you don't want her to turn into one of us dirty, feminist, capitalist pig-women.
