I had problems with my insurance when I first got points.. depending on what the points are for, as you have to declare to most companies its actually not that bad.
Id start with www.confused.com which is actually a pretty good system, take the lowest quote that gives you the cover you need, then go through the phone book calling a few brokers and ask them to beat your price.. you'd be surprised how much you can drop prices.

Try the AA. They search loads for the cheapest insurance company for your particular circumstances

virgin.com they let you pay monthly and don;t add anything on because of it.
If you have points, then get a snooper!
