ok, so there is this guy, named bret, who i want to ask to prom. i just want to go with him as friends, i don't like him in the bf/gf way, i just think he would be a fun date. well, the twist is that about 4 months ago he and a friend of mine got out of a, not even month long, relationship. would it be mean of me to ask him since my friend did go out wih him a little, or should i just go for it? (it's not like bret and i are gonna start dating, it is just prom....but i donno)

Ask your friend if it's okay with her, and reassure her that you have NO romantic interest in Bret, you just want a fun friend as your prom date. Once she says okay, then you can ask him.

I think that it should not be a problem with that. Like you say you don't like him like that. But on the other hand if this other girl is your friend, I would see what she feels about the situation before you do. You woldn't want to lose your friendship over "some guy". Friends are hard to come by and I am sure you could have a good time at prom with someone else if need be. Good luc with your decision.

I understand that some teenage girls can be a little over the top when it comes to ex-boyfriends. So if your friend is not mature she may become upset that your going to the prom with one of her ex's. I'd ask him, and if she gets moody about it just explain to her in the nicest way possible that it's only as friends.

your being selfish,, he's gonna wanna go with someone who is really special to him,,,, so if your like "oh I just wanna go as friends"? well, to a guy thats like your doing him a favor! thats an insult....

I went with a girl to my prom cause her boyfriend was in jail!!! (I was crazy about her) and the B' started crying half way through the night cause she missed him!

What a wreck....

I think Brett an you friend will get the wrong idea, as long as you explain your intentions and both parties understand that its a "just friends" deal I think its ok....Just pays to check first...
Have a great time!

either ask your friend first and see if shes ok with it, because you dont want your friend to freak out, even tho its just a friend date, not a bf/gf date, adn if shes not ok then dont,

or jsut ask him if you just wanna be going as friends no harm done

Go for it but talk to your friend that he was going out with first just in case.

i have a friend who informed me i needed to "consult her if i ever dated one of her ex-boyfriends".. the thing is-- i had dated one ALREADY, and she didnt really know. haha. i think if it's over between them, than it's really none of her business. What happens between you & Bret is YOUR business. If it affects her, than she needs to straighten out her priorities, or be real with herself.

What is more important, the date with this guy or your friends feelings.
